The official reason is that an anonymous reader raised concerns, leading to an investigation that identified “serious methodological flaws and statistical errors.”
We respectfully request that these specific methodological flaws and statistical errors be clearly identified and documented. Our analytical model does not rely on statistical inference. The results are obtained through the direct inversion of a straightforward Doppler tomographic model.

That work involved scientific collaboration with the Italian CNR and was developed in support of communities living near Vesuvius.
If the underlying method is considered flawed, consistency would suggest that the same standard should be applied to both papers.
