😂 It's documented in his book "Dark Days in Ghana" that Nkrumah mentioned his plan for the Akosombo Project to the colonial government before independence.
They (like Nkrumah's opposition), did not like the concept, so he had to wait to be elected for them to leave to actually implement it.
The result is obvious today.
It's not that "every leader has their own vision" per se. National development is a rather well-understood process by now. It's been done enough times around the world.
There are things that work, and things that don't work. There are good policy plans and bad policy plans. There also good leaders and bad leaders. The result will justify the leadership. Nowadays, decision makers can and do run experiments.
Nkrumah was a good leader. The opposition who followed him, on the other hand, were not good leaders. The colonial government that preceded him were not good for Ghana either. The opposition of an independence movement, and the colonial reason why an independent movement was needed in the first place won't ever have anything positive to offer, just by definition.
Thank you @gyaigyimii
Plastic pollution remains one of the biggest environmental challenges we face today. To curb this growing crisis, the EPA is set to begin strict but gradual enforcement of the plastic ban, starting with supermarkets and airports. This is a crucial step in our broader strategy to reduce plastic waste, protect our environment, and promote sustainable alternatives.
As we roll out this enforcement, I urge businesses and the public to comply with the regulations and embrace eco-friendly solutions. Tackling plastic pollution requires collective effort, and together, we can create a cleaner, healthier future for all.

Earlier today, I was sworn in as a member of the New York State Bar, having passed the July 2023 New York Bar Exam and all other requirements for admission. I am grateful to God, my family and friends who have walked this path with me.
Small loans can help people establish and expand their small businesses. A field study in 🇬🇭#Ghana lead by @YanagizawaD has now revealed that men ask for and receive more money from microcredit companies than women. However, if women are better informed, they are more likely to apply for higher amounts.

The researchers' plan was to collaborate with the largest microcredit company in the country, Quick Credit. The contact was established by @Kobbina Awuah, a PhD candidate at @econ_uzh who lives in Ghana. Further PhD candidates on the research team included @stinehelmke and @sara_rabino.

A modern banana vs a pre-domestication one.
The process transformed a fruit completely full of seeds into a parthenocarpic seedless fruit that develops in the absence of pollination.
The earliest archaeological evidence of domesticated bananas was dated to 7,000 years ago.
The other day, we got very bad news of the death of H.E. Geingob, our brother, President of Namibia. It is a great loss for Namibia and Africa. I have been working with SWAPO, the Namibian Liberation Movement, for the last 57 years, starting with 1967. Initially, I used to interact with SWAPO youth from Kurasini in Dar-es-Salaam, led by a fellow youth by the names of Kalwenya Omatene, who, I came to understand died of natural causes before Namibia’s Independence.
Those youth linked me to Mzee Sam Nujoma, the President of SWAPO, in their offices towards the Upanga area. We used to organize lectures and solidarity meetings for the Liberation Movements at the university to demystify the idea that the oppressive Whites in Africa could not be defeated by African arms and inform the Africans of the efforts of their brother freedom fighters of Southern Africa and Guinea Bissau.
My thoughts and sympathies go out to the brotherly people of Namibia for the profound loss of His Excellency Dr. Hage Geingob, President of Namibia. Dr. Geingob was an icon of the struggle to free Namibia from the brutal repression of colonisation and Apartheid in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. Our sincere condolences on the loss of this great son of Africa.
