@ChainLinkGod Now compare it to the U.S. Treasury whom can print dollars but also promote the dollar… confused to what your point even is. Maybe just delete.
@JoelKatz Thank you for responding. It was helpful because my focus was supply and demand more than economic relevancy.
What assumption about XRP’s future do you think most people get wrong when discussing the eventual end of Ripple’s escrow program?
@JoelKatz I have a question I feel doesn’t get brought up enough. When Ripple’s escrow runs out it’s essentially the same as the final BTC being mined. Except in this case like 100 years earlier. When comparing these two scenarios wouldn’t this happen around the year 2035?
It's hard to predict because you have to make assumptions about how much XRP Ripple uses and how much gets put back into subsequent escrow months. Also, BTC's rewards trickle down over time so even though they won't go to zero for a very long time, they may become economically irrelevant much sooner.
The issues are also different from the two chains.
For bitcoin, the block reward plays a vital role in incentivizing mining when transaction fees are insufficient. The more mining, the more secure the chain is. With a block reward that is too low, many miners may refrain from using energy to mine until there are sufficient transactions with high fees to justify the cost. This may result in "bursty" mining or other changes to bitcoin to prevent this outcome. Alternatively, transaction fees may go up enough that this isn't an issue.
For XRP, Ripple's escrows unlocking gives Ripple XRP that it can use. Ripple certainly might continue to do all kiknds of things with XRP that have effects without escrows unlocking, but it seems reasonable to think that things will change in some ways.
@kwok_phil This is the way but, I would think of onboarding players like a partnership. 51-49% split of future profits on a superstar like Lebron James or a Justin Beiber. It has to be fair unless it’s a fixed term.
Hantavirus shut down, housing bubble crisis, and crypto clarity act passing at the same time doesn’t sound like coincidence to me. Tokenize the stock market and real estate and move away from swift with 24/7 trading while everyone is at home from lock down. Just send it already.
