With live music central to the UK cultural economy, it’s time to put the priorities of @LiveMusic_UK at the forefront of growth and change. I hope @lisanandy @RhonddaBryant & @DCMS understand the importance of Live and Recorded music having different challenges in the ecosystem

[Music Venue Trust @musicvenuetrust]

@lisanandy Looking forward to working with you to deliver the support that live music communities across the country desperately need and are crying out for.

Agree: Let’s not hang about, let’s get this done.

PREDATOR was released 37 years ago this week. Among the most popular science fiction/action movies of the 1980s, and one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s biggest films, the behind the scenes tale ain’t got time to bleed…

RIP Chuck Roberts 💔

Songwriter, producer and vocalist Chuck Roberts has died aged 66.

Often labelled the “Voice of House Music”, Roberts is best known for his spoken-word sermon on Rhythm Controll’s 1987 track ‘My House’ — which starts with the iconic phrase “In the beginning there was jack”.

According to a statement, Roberts passed away “peacefully” at his home in Illinois on June 6 following a battle with cancer.

Among those to have paid tribute to Roberts is Terry Hunter, who shared the news on Facebook, writing: “I can’t believe I’m writing this! RIP Chuck The Voice Roberts!!!! In the Beginning There Was Jack!”

Mixmag visited Roberts in 2018 to record his inspiring sermon around New York, watch it below 🙏

🎵 How can the UK Government save grassroots music venues?

We are publishing our report tomorrow, Saturday 11 May.

[Mark Davyd @markdavyd]

Looking forward to meeting Tim Leiweke once they have @TheCoopLive fully operational.

@musicvenuetrust is fully prepared for that conversation; our proposal is that Research & Development should be considered an inherent cost of presenting live music, not an additional tax

[RCAG @RedbridgeAction]

URGENT: Help @metpolice identify this sick racist earlier today in Romford!

WATCH as this coward physically threatens and subjects a group of women with his vile, horrific, racist and Islamophobic slurs. We stand with them in solidarity!

📢 Internet, please do your thing! 🚨

[Mark Davyd @markdavyd]

Very sad to announce that @bathnes have decided that live music does not belong in Bath, and refused to grant an Asset of Community Value status to @MolesBath Extensive plans to bring the venue back are now lost.

Their advice to any music lover who lives there:
Move to Bristol

[robliefeld @robertliefeld]

About 9 years back, my son asked me to stop arguing with people on Twitter. He said it doesn’t accomplish anything and he was right, and I have tried to avoid conflicts since then. He spoke great wisdom at 15 years young. I’m not perfect but I am trying to be better every day. Social media is in its own pubescent period. We are all still learning its ups and downs.

Right then calling on all artists from Birmingham, Bristol and the Cardiff areas to make themselves known.

It’s for a thing I’m sworn to secrecy about 😉

Know a band in any of those places? Shout em out 👍🏻

Enjoyed my time with David Scott talking about East Kilbride's past and future and hearing from other East Kilbridians.

Reimagining our town centre is key to giving East Kilbride its identity back.
