Yes, speech can be misused. So can anything human. But the alternative isn’t safety, it’s authority deciding what you’re allowed to say, hear, and believe.

The pitch always sounds the same: “free” healthcare, “free” childcare, “free” tuition.

What they quietly leave unsaid is who actually pays.

They imply the rich will cover the bill, but in reality the costs get passed along through higher prices, automation, fewer opportunities, and barriers that small businesses can’t survive.

Large firms adapt, the state grows, and the little guys get squeezed.

In the end the rich often break even or consolidate more power, the state expands, and the poor absorb most of the consequences.

It’s sold as compassion, but the incentives tell a very different story.
