Jobs in Exeter! Pls help me to spread the word about 2 x postdoctoral fellowship associated to my @ERC_Research "A Philosophy of Open Science for Diverse Research Environments", deadline for applications 31 May, start of job 1 January 2022. Details below @UofESPA@UofE_Research
@OpenResearch_EU 2/2 What I like with #OpenResearchEurope is that peer-review is open and transparent: the names of both authors and reviewers are published, along with reviews, which are also #openaccess.
@OpenResearch_EU What stands out for me - apart form the innovative publishing features - is the very strong signal by the @EC_Europa that research should be assessed on its own merits value and not on questionable metrics or reputation of the venue. (1/2)
@HLdeJonge@OpenResearch_EU The most plausible route in the short term is having the public facing abstracts in different languages, but not the manuscript itself.
@OpenResearch_EU I also hope that #OpenResearchEurope will be the first push towards equitable and diamond #OA by inspiring other institutions and stakeholders to create similar platforms.
@OpenResearch_EU If you have to comply with a funder #OA mandate, it makes sense that the funder supports/creates opportunities to publish #OA. That is #OpenResearchEurope for #HorizonEU, and the other European funders should follow suit.
@jeroenbosman@OpenResearch_EU#horizoneurope projects have been screened and subject to competitive selection, so I think this will affect the perception of #OpenResearchEurope. I think, especially at the start of a new #OA platform, that may actually be helpful.
@OpenResearch_EU Timely publication + transparent real-time peer review strengthens European institutions, see #covid19 research and policy responses. #OpenResearchEurope can speed up other research e.g. #ClimateScience, while keeping quality control, to support timely & evidence-informed policy!
@OpenResearch_EU It would be great if #OpenResearchEurope can expand to publish also other European Research, @EUScienceInnov and beyond. That would really support European institutions in the broader sense!
@OpenResearch_EU Also: in some fields, there are no reputable #OA journals yet, but ECRs are asked to publish in them. #OpenResearchEurope goes beyond the “journal” model & has the quality label of #HorizonEU attached to it, helping the drive to go beyond simplistic metrics in #ResearchAssessment
@OpenResearch_EU Let me address HSS specifically: it often takes two, three or more years before an article is actually published, so the publishing speed of #OpenResearchEurope, which is almost immediate, can be very interesting and refreshing, especially for ECR’s in HSS.
@OpenResearch_EU What’s also nice: #OpenResearchEurope doesn’t only show a research abstract, but also an abstract for the general reader (possibly in different languages): I think this is a nice feature for an #openscience platform, that it opens research tot the wider public. #citizenscience
