One time I went to the @GhPoliceService to report a case after a driver made a wrong turn onto the highway and ruined my car.

When the policeman saw me, he asked where I worked. “I am with Nestlé,” I said. Only to hear him respond with disdain, “You’re one of the factory hands, right?” I looked at him and his condescending tone and just nodded in agreement. I was not ready to argue with a pathetic fool.

Just to give you an idea of my role, at Nestlé, I worked for the Nestlé Integrated Business Services, handling all West Africa, East Africa, and some parts of Southern Africa procurement operations and projects. In addition to my main procurement role, I was the Source to Pay Project Partner in charge of all procurement projects for the same regions.

My duties required frequent meetings in French, English, and Portuguese. But because I was “young”, old shallow people quickly looked down on me when they saw me, I wasn’t in a suit and tie, blowing my own horn. I see a lot of young creatives enduring this disrespect because of their age and looks.

So the next time some old nitwit looks down on you, don’t make it your duty to school them. You’ll definitely meet them again, and the shame that would bathe them would be all the satisfaction you need.
