This is my ideal tornado range. Sometimes ill move in closer, and sometimes ill hang farther back...but to me the sweet spot is when I am able to be OUTSIDE of the vehicle, still close range and feeling the elements. The tornado is close enough I can see the ground contact clearly while needing to look UP to see the top of it, really putting its size into perspective.

Being outside of the vehicle when its close is a whole different feeling. You're more exposed to the power, and more humbled by it. Being inside the vehicle for me, even if I'm closer, lacks that connection.

Current US 5th Fleet assets include 3 Arleigh Burke-class destroyers (potentially ~150-200 Tomahawks total) and 3 LCS (limited strike role), with possible unlisted subs. No carriers. In talking to @AndyHazelton yesterday – who's been flying Melissa with @NOAA_HurrHunter – he described the cloud bank around Melissa's eye as appearing more vertical than sloped in appearance (the ubuquitous stadium effect). Interesting to see that more upright look here as well.
