Earlier today, I had the privilege of joining a panel discussion on this timely theme, “Leading Africa Forward: Diplomacy, Governance and Innovation in Practice” sharing insights with the Youth Leadership Cohort 2026 in Accra.

An initiative of the All-Africa Students Union (AASU) in collaboration with the Youth Diplomacy Institute (YDI).

Our conversation explored what it truly takes to move Africa forward: diplomacy that centres African interests, governance rooted in accountability, and innovation driven by young people bold enough to reimagine what’s possible.

I left the room even more convinced that Africa’s transformation will not be handed to us, it will be built by a generation that shows up prepared, leads with integrity, and refuses to wait its turn.

Grateful to AASU and YDI for the platform, and to the brilliant young leaders whose questions and energy made the session unforgettable.

This morning, I had the honour of calling on my Snr Comrade Ludwig Akpene Hlodze, a former National Youth Organizer, to pay my respects and formally inform him of my decision to contest as National Youth Organizer. As a distinguished former occupant of the office I seek, I found it both prudent and respectful to share my vision with him and to seek his counsel on how best to prosecute this agenda. Great time with my brother, Elikem Kotoko, the Deputy CEO, Forestry Commission and a Deputy National Organizer -NDC, as I continue my engagements with key party stakeholders to officially declare my intention to contest for the position of National Youth Organizer.

Our discussions focused on building a stronger party with a more united youth front, and how we can harness the strength, energy and potential of our young people to advance that cause.

I also shared my vision and conviction about why I believe I am the right candidate to lead the Youth Wing at this critical time. Thanks to Elikem for his confidence in my ability to deliver and offered his encouragement for the journey ahead.

Today, I returned to where it all began, the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana to join the final year Theatre for Development class at the launch of their TFD Festival, a platform to showcase their final year projects to the university community and the nation.

As an alumnus of this great school (BFA, Theatre Arts & Dance Studies, with a specialization in Theatre for Development), this one hit home.
Theatre for Development is applied theatre that takes drama beyond the stage and into communities, using storytelling, dialogue, and performance to confront real issues: health, education, governance, sanitation, gender, and social justice. It doesn’t just entertain; it engages, educates, and empowers people to become agents of their own change.

In a world searching for authentic ways to communicate development, TFD remains one of Africa’s most powerful homegrown tools meeting people where they are, in languages and forms they understand.

That is why initiatives like this festival deserve our support and amplification. These young practitioners are not just staging plays; they are training to transform communities. When we show up for them, we invest in the future of development communication in Ghana and beyond.
