The Oberoi Group has revised the reopening of The Oberoi Grand Kolkata to Sept 2028. Closed since Aug 2024 for restoration, the hotel was originally slated to reopen in Sept 2026. Structural issues uncovered during renovation expanded the scope, delaying it by 2 years.

The condition of Salkia School Road from Belur to Bandhaghat is disgraceful. At this rate, Howrah City should be renamed Howrah Village. Nearly 2 months into the new government, even basic pothole repairs haven’t been done. Vehicles overturn daily. This neglect is unacceptable!
