@momof3terrors@FossilLocator We're trying our best. We had a full summer of work planned and then COVID slammed the door on that. On the upside, it has allowed us to do the detail planning for more cases. We have about 18 cases where the planning is more or less done except for last minute stuff.
@FossilLocator@momof3terrors We didn't technically find that plane but closed the case. The family of one of the victims decided that they had closure because we found evidence that the wreckage is almost certainly broken up and buried and out of reach of divers who might try to loot the site.
@momof3terrors@FossilLocator Shoot me an email. info(at)https://t.co/7v4ymilZtI We are trying to get an online orientation and training class arranged for a bunch of new volunteers that have applied during the pandemic. The hope is to get that done in September.
@FossilLocator@momof3terrors I am a forensic anthropology doctoral student or, rather, will be once things settle down with the pandemic.
Apologies for the delay in responding as I have been back working as a respiratory therapist due to COVID.
We just wanted to check in briefly.
We have been busy working on a few cases and, being a team made up of volunteers, with our other jobs. Many of us are essential workers including respiratory therapists, paramedics, emergency physicians, and military personnel.
Stay safe.
@ForensicFeline @WKemp_MT_FPDoc One could argue felony murder which in some states at least theoretically opens up the possibility of a death sentence (see Tison v. Arizona). I'm okay with that being an option in extreme cases.
I always shake my head when I see states abolish the felony murder rule.
@ForensicFeline @WKemp_MT_FPDoc Depending upon the severity of the disregard and the jurisdiction, one could actually argue for murder under the depraved heart (or "depraved indifference") rule rather than manslaughter.
@JiZhang16924243 Jake, I have an interest in using clinical or forensic CT data to expand osteological data beyond what we can get from the limited skeletal collections. Would you mind if I DMed you to ask for your input?
@ForensicFeline @WKemp_MT_FPDoc A death due to negligence or willful disregard for the safety of others is still a homicide and not an accident. I think the US needs to make use of the "death by misadventure" category when there is a willful disregard for one's own safety instead of calling it "accidental"
The Tall Bearded Iris โEpicenter' aptly named for all of the earthquakes we've been having here. Do love the scent of this one. I like the peach and wine color combo.
@4n6doctora @WKemp_MT_FPDoc @JulianBurton15 @Defer2Permanent@JiZhang16924243@anueru432@NicoleJacksonMD@themamabun@RatkalSwati @KevinThompsonMD I know I have the "recipe" and procedure around here somewhere if you're interested. The only drawback (aside from dealing with lead) is that it takes a bit of work with a mortar and pestle to grind the lead down fine enough to get a good result.
