No rich papa and no rich mama
Sometimes I wonder why I come this life
May be na me God send to make things right
For my family with my melody
I can hear them screaming my name
I was at a POS stand this evening when an elderly man, probably in his 70s, came to withdraw ₦1,000.
He asked the POS lady to speak with his son, who transferred the money immediately.
She counted ₦900 and handed it to him.
The old man said softly, “The charge is usually ₦50, not ₦100.”
But the woman snapped, “Baba, abeg no stress me. Na ₦100 charge for ₦1k.”
The man looked devastated. You could tell he had already calculated what that ₦950 would buy, and that extra ₦50 meant everything.
I stepped in and told the POS lady to give him ₦10,000.
Omor… the old man laid flat on the ground and held my legs 😭
My dad’s friend, a widow, called him to borrow ₦1 million for her 60th birthday.
My dad told her, “You know I’m retired. I don’t have that kind of money to lend out, but I can send you ₦200k as a birthday gift.”
She replied softly, “You don’t have money, yet you bought your wife a car two weeks ago.”
My dad replied, “Not having money to lend doesn’t mean I don’t have money for my family.”
She said okay and blocked him immediately.
Another mutual friend she later borrowed the money from told my dad she has not paid back the money till today...
