Who remembers using the code wheel for Pool of Radiance on the Commodore 64?
I was deep into AD&D at primary school. Then one day at high school a mate said he had a Dungeons & Dragons game for his C64 โ and I could have it!
After school I jumped on my bike, pedalled 5 km, took a shortcut through a farm, and rocked up at his place.
He handed me the golden box with the floppiesโฆ and this code wheel. Iโd never seen anything like it.
I fired up what was Pool of Radiance, figured out the wheel, rolled up a party, and started the adventure.
At first I was 50/50 on it โ I think I was expecting something different. But I persevered, smashed some koboldsโฆ then a few moreโฆ and suddenly I was hooked.
That game absolutely nailed the full AD&D experience for me and it ended up being the one I poured the most hours into on my Commodore 64. (I would say hundreds of hours, and 3 times completed...and still love it!)
Any other fans out there?

@oldyzach Not quite as old as Heroes of Might and Magic, but been working through Knights of the Old Republic lately for the first time. I've always heard good things and it's meeting the hype so far.
