@ElJefe__@HonitelHQ This is how you all resist knowledge and end up enslaving yourself to bad leaders. Actually expected more from you in particular. Open a book, please.
@Dphoenix_xx@HonitelHQ If the label is clearly leaving money on the table because of their own limits, they need to own up to it and allow the artist secure that value. That's fairness. Can't hold people back with your incompetence especially when they can prove it.
@Dphoenix_xx@HonitelHQ That feeling can be concrete knowledge. No assumptions. That's what transparency does. Everyone can see that this thing Is not paying with clear reasons and next steps. It's the assumptions and entitlements that create issues in the first place. Transparency fixes that.
@Iam_smeezy No more local night life because young people can't afford them in any meaningful way that makes the culture from those places stick. All the influence for creativity is generic from social media. Same building blocks, same trends, all generic. Standouts are harder now.
@AlexOriprite You are not concerned about the implications of a debate where BAT is the smartest person in the room? For all our sakes Obi or others need to floor him because if this is our best, we're screwed.
The world doesn't have enough stages for all these many main characters. Settle into your supporting roles and collect your award for best performance too.
@princeleeowo@HonitelHQ Again these things are not hard. Look up similar cases in the past and how the Nigerian court handled them. It doesn't matter what you agreed to yesterday when you were negotiating from a place of disadvantage (if you were), what matters is the unfairness you can prove today.
@mo_bolaji_ We have some of the dumbest music executives ever. This includes executives who broke talent oversees too. Almost 30 years of modern operation and we still can't boast of any infrastructure we built ourselves.
@princeleeowo@HonitelHQ But it does. And that's the bit that both parties need to know at all times. This is not even that complex, it's basic law. The courts will not rewrite your contract, but they will establish if it's fair or not. That's why receipts matter. Doesn't matter how it started. Contest!
@HonitelHQ Nope the artist can contest at any time the balance can be proven as unfair. How they contest is what matters. Just because they signed doesn't their hands are tied. What can they prove and what does the mediator/judge think? That's why transparency with the books matter.
@HonitelHQ Just because you sign a contract doesn't mean same contract can't contain illegal or unfair labour clauses that can be contested. The contract is not the be all and all; fairness is still a critical factor for sustaining relationships regardless of how they started.
@TheSilvapr@HonitelHQ Why? Why only label boss sabi? Open the books make everybody know. Na today e start business? No accounting? Why the secrecy? Keep the books open and allow third-party to audit if your conscience clear. These things no hard if the business is not trying to be clever.
@HonitelHQ These things are not hard. Open the books. Be transparent. Allow third-party audits. Make it part of your culture. Leave no room for doubt. These things no hard at all. If the label is doing it they are suspect or stupid.
@adanonso_@UdohAfg But it is. Whether you recognize that or not. In that moment you are the forgone alternative, if that pattern holds and you are mostly the foregone alternative, it's neglect. Doesn't mean your home is not happy. One of those things that can be better when you stop ignoring it.
@UdohAfg@adanonso_ It's neglect. We need to own it first and nurse the guilt until we are able to choose to be present for that moment instead of anything else we think is more deserving of our attention in that moment.
@Osi_Suave An artist who has built a base should be able to extract 500 naira from that base even if it's a base of 100 fans. The problem is that management is waiting for Coca Cola to build the kiosks for them. 21 years since 2baba's breakout and we're still clueless.
@iamcashia There's layers to this thing. It's not like attention became more expensive, it's authentic differentiation that became hard to attain because every young person is building their creativity with the same generic box of influences in the last five or so years.
@iamcashia It's not attention, it's the economy and generic influences. The poor economy has closed access to local social spaces to young people and driven everyone online where are they are influenced by the same trends but are required to be unique enough to still standout and blow.
