I AM the Living Bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this Bread will live forever; and the Bread that I will give is My Flesh for the life of the world” John 6:51 Do I believe Jesus? How to I live this belief? Peace
On the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, we celebrate Jesus’ gift of Himself in the Eucharist. He becomes our food for the journey of life, strengthening our faith, healing our hearts, and teaching us to become bread broken for others.
Christ himself, the true God,
is set before us as our food.
What could be more
wonderful than this?
No other sacrament
has greater healing power; through it sins are purged away, virtues are increased,
and the soul is enriched
with an abundance
of every spiritual gift.
-St Thomas Aquinas
As we celebrate Corpus Christi and always, may we make sure that we never casually or passively approach the altar to receive the Body and Blood of Jesus. Instead, may we be filled with “Eucharistic wonder and awe” and express profound thanks for this most precious gift.
“A Christianity without empathy is nothing but an empty religion. The heart of the Gospel is to love your neighbor as yourself, to rejoice with those who rejoice, and to weep with those who weep.”
— The Return of the Prodigal Son
Our nation will only know peace and unity if we renew our promise to follow the greatest of the commandments: to love God with all our heart and strength and to love our neighbor as ourselves. With the Lord’s grace, may we love today as he commands.
Jesus tells us to avoid all forms of hypocrisy and make sure we are doing the right things for the right reason. We are not to seek worldly praise for our good deeds but strive only to please God. No earthly ruler or pressures can take priority over the Lord and his commands.
