@seerutkchawla How many people on this thread are actually educated in trauma? Or hold any type of degree or licensure in the field of mental health? #illwait 🤔
Happy #PrideMonth! 🏳️🌈 We've seen how resilient the #LGBTQ community is with the help of supportive families, communities, and peers. However, they are at risk for discrimination and adverse and traumatic events. We can and must do better to support their #mentalhealth.
1 in 5 people will experience a #mentalhealth condition in their lifetime, but everyone has mental health. As #MentalHealthMonth comes to a close, remember to keep talking. Normalize mental health care. Fight the stigma.
The emotional distress educators experience is often overlooked. Too many educators give everything they have to their schools and students but not enough for themselves. If we're appreciating teachers for what they do, we also have to support their mental health.
Having a deficit-attitude of our students skews the perception of what we think and expect them to do.
Instead of saying "they can't” what if we said, “not yet.”
Instead of saying “what's wrong with them?” what if we said, “what can I do to build on their existing strengths?”
“When I was in Middle School, I always dreamt I'd get the chance to play in the NFL. Coming from Rhode Island, you don’t see anybody go get drafted in the first round,” said @UMichFootball Kwity Paye. We couldn’t be more proud of this @EsekHopkinsMS grad! https://t.co/9RofCRaqtw
