FULL INTERVIEW: IN US Senator Todd Young just laid it out — no fluff. America builds almost no commercial ships. China can build a thousand. That’s not an industry problem. That’s a national security problem. Young is pushing the SHIPS for America Act with President Trump’s team to rebuild U.S. shipyards, train workers, and put American vessels back on the water. Same playbook as the CHIPS Act — bring critical manufacturing home. Then he goes after Congress itself: Ban members of Congress AND their families from trading individual stocks. No more “public service” that quietly becomes a private portfolio. He also talks Slate Auto — the American EV startup building affordable, customizable vehicles and jobs in Indiana. Full interview. Ships. Chips. Stock ban. American manufacturing. Watch it. Share it. GOOD NEWS: Part 1: Slate Auto picked Warsaw. Here’s why that matters. Slate Auto didn’t pick some random city. They chose Warsaw. Kosciusko County. Affordable electric trucks. Thousands of jobs. A historic factory coming back to life. Indiana U.S. Senator Todd Young sits down with us on Local Talk to talk about what this means for our community. Full interview drops soon. More episodes coming over the next few days. This one’s ours.
We Will Never forget. On the morning of September 11, 2001, 19 al-Qaeda hijackers seized four commercial airliners and turned them into weapons.
In less than two hours they killed 2,977 people — not counting the hijackers themselves — in the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil.
This was not an accident or a single crash. It was a coordinated assault on New York, Washington, and a field in Pennsylvania where passengers fought back.
What happened that morning (Eastern Time)
7:59 a.m. — American Airlines Flight 11 leaves Boston for Los Angeles.
8:14 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 175 leaves Boston for Los Angeles.
8:20 a.m. — American Airlines Flight 77 leaves Dulles for Los Angeles.
8:42 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 93 leaves Newark for San Francisco (delayed).
8:46 a.m. — Flight 11 strikes the North Tower of the World Trade Center between floors 93 and 99.
9:03 a.m. — Flight 175 strikes the South Tower between floors 77 and 85. The second impact, seen live on television, made clear this was no accident.
9:37 a.m. — Flight 77 slams into the west side of the Pentagon.
9:59 a.m. — The South Tower collapses after burning for 56 minutes.

0:03 a.m. — Flight 93 crashes in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers and crew rushed the cockpit. Their resistance almost certainly saved the intended target in Washington.
10:28 a.m. — The North Tower collapses, 102 minutes after it was hit.
U.S. airspace was shut down. Lower Manhattan was evacuated. A portion of the Pentagon collapsed. 7 World Trade Center later fell that afternoon.
The human cost Official death toll: 2,977 (excluding the 19 hijackers).Location

Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia

Among those killed at the World Trade Center were:
343 New York City firefighters
37 Port Authority Police Department officers
23 New York City police officers
Additional EMTs, paramedics, and other first responders
In total, about 441 first responders died that day at Ground Zero — the largest single-day loss of rescue personnel in U.S. history.
Victims ranged in age from 2 to 85. They came from more than 90 countries. Nearly 3,000 children lost a parent. One firm lost 658 employees. Eight children died, including three 11-year-olds on a school trip aboard Flight 77. A 2-year-old girl on Flight 175 was traveling to Disneyland with her parents.
Thousands more were injured. In the years since, many first responders and survivors have died from illnesses linked to the toxic dust. Identification work continues; as of recent years, more than 1,100 World Trade Center victims remain unidentified.
What we remember Ordinary people went to work, boarded planes, or ran toward the fire. Firefighters climbed stairs while others were coming down. Passengers on Flight 93 said “Let’s roll” and charged the cockpit. Civilians helped strangers down smoke-filled stairwells. The Twin Towers stood 110 stories.
An estimated 16,000–18,000 people were in the complex that morning; the vast majority escaped because of those who stayed behind to help.Twenty-five years later the names are still read.
Moments of silence still fall at 8:46, 9:03, 9:37, 9:59, 10:03, and 10:28.
The Tribute in Light still rises over Lower Manhattan. The footprints of the towers remain. We remember the dead. We honor the first responders who ran in. We remember the passengers who fought. We refuse to let the day become only a date. Never forget.
