Today we finally found a suitable time for a farewell to our long-serving senior scientist Juho-Antti Mäkelä, who moved on to new adventures in his career in the beginning of this year. We all greatly appreciate the time he spent with us, being an integral part of our community!
Two weeks ago Ammar and Samuli got a chance to present their work at the 15th Symposium of the Young Physiologists in Berlin. Great event with a wide variety of different topics about physiology, and awesome people!
Sperm cell navigation, egg cell fertilisation, and early embryo development are negatively affected by simulated low gravity (microgravity) conditions, according to a study involving human, mice and pig cells published in Communications Biology. https://t.co/Yo9zTRRvcg
I am honored to share that I have been awarded a research grant by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
This grant will support the completion of my doctoral research in the field of male fertility.
I am truly grateful for the Foundation’s trust.

A friend asked me to explain DNA, RNA, and epigenetics. he said that others had tried before, but it didn’t click for him.
I happen to play the piano, so I gave him a simple, albeit imperfect, analogy.
After this analogy, he finally understood! Here’s the piano analogy.
