A colleague shared a video of a teacher putting stickers on her face every time a new student participated. I tried out the idea, and my classes were determined to get as many stickers on my face in an hour! Needless to say, I looked crazy by the end of it! ๐คช #whateverittakes
Wanted to try DI by readiness for my P3 ss learning on digestive system. During the lesson, I realize that they were able to select the right item but they were not able to explain why. A colleague suggested to include See-Think-Wonder, which ll help bridge the gap! Will try it!
Task 4: Compose a song / rap / jingle to describe the process of how the organs in the digestive system interact with each other.
Think of your favourite nursery rhyme or song and fill in the lyrics! :) (Differentiated Instructions by task for P3 Science Digestive System)
Task 3: Draw a comic with 4 - 6 frames to show the function of organ.
Start with illness and end with the illness being explained. Eg, which organ was not working well? Which organ was affected? (Differentiated Instructions by task for P3 Science Digestive System)
Task 2: Imagine you are a hamburger. Write a story of how you travelled from the mouth to the anus. (Differentiated Instructions by task for P3 Science Digestive System)
Tried Differentiated Instruction by Product in my lesson with P3 Science last week. I'm surprised by the in depth ans provided by the 9 year olds!
Task 1: Compare and contrast 2 organs in the digestive system. Write down the similarities and differences.

VR will be very cool to teach live science topics! Imagine swimming into the blood vessels from the small intestine or falling into the windpipe to the bronchi ๐คฉ the kids always have misconceptions here because they cannot visualize....
This mummy from my graduating class couldn't book a parent-teacher meeting slot as they were full so she asked for feedback on her child, which I gave. But this is what she wrote. ๐ Parents like her make me feel so appreciated for my job! #unexpected#bestparentaward
I wasn't expecting much from them tbh but I was impressed. So much learning on compassion, resilience and social responsibility from Covid19, and on things they have taken for granted and linking them to the country they want Singapore to be in the future. #strongertogether
'What Can You Do To Contribute To Singapore?' is a big question to ask 8 year olds. So we broke it down into, what can you do as a student, son/daughter, brother/sister, neighbour, friend to make Singapore a better place. Many said they would like Singapore to be a caring place.
Some said to not pollute our rivers and reduce food, electricity and water to keep Singapore clean and green. Some said to stand up to people who say racist things and be more sensitive, quoting 'different races have different cultures'.
Greatest learning this week was to learn how to dispel negative energy. A student who had baggages prior to my lesson, had a meltdown in my class and vented her anger on me tho I was not the true source of her anger. It affected me for days as I found it hard to not be affected.
Also other things that I've learnt from the incident are...
... to follow-up w the student to achieve a win-win situation
...to work with ss's parents for greater insights
...to work together with the class's teachers for support and strategies
A celebration in the midst of a pandemic. Celebrating Singapore's birthday in class this year felt strange but the kids were very attentive. They have been looking forward to the celebration and were in NDP mood the whole day. What a year you had, Singapore! #strongertogether
