The protest may be over.
The tents may be gone.
But the photographs have already travelled abroad.

Violence.
Vandalism.
Chaos.

India was building trade relationships from a position of strength.

Free trade agreements were moving.
Strategic partnerships were deepening.
Global confidence was rising.

Now, every image of street disorder becomes ammunition.

A foreign headline.
A diplomatic question.
A hesitation across the negotiating table.

The Ministry of External Affairs must now spend months repairing what these Goons damaged in days.

More explanations.
More reassurance.
More diplomatic effort.

India will still move forward.

But when miscreants are allowed to vandalise the country in the name of protest, progress becomes more difficult.

And the bill is not paid by these Cockroaches.

It is paid by India.

Every single one of the points are a real problem.

But your understanding is broken, let me explain. :)

Norway has 55 lakh people. Total. That’s smaller than the population of Pune. Their entire country has fewer citizens than India’s 25 smallest cities individually. Norway also has 1.2 trillion dollars in sovereign wealth from oil reserves, accumulated over 50 years.

They have $250,000 per citizen sitting in the fund. India has roughly $3,400 per citizen in forex reserves.

Norway is what you get when a small population sits on top of one of the largest per-capita oil discoveries in human history.

The right comparison is other low-income, high-population, post-colonial democracies. Brazil. Indonesia. Nigeria. Bangladesh. Pakistan. Egypt. Mexico. South Africa. Vietnam. Philippines.

Compare on these and India isn’t doing badly. It’s doing better than most.

UPI is the world’s largest real-time payments system.

Aadhaar is the world’s largest biometric identity system.

We absorbed the global pandemic, the Ukraine war, the West Asia conflict, Trump’s tariffs, the Iran war, and a rupee fall without going into recession.

Most of those countries above did. Pakistan went to the IMF 24 times. Sri Lanka collapsed. Bangladesh is unstable. Egypt needed emergency Gulf bailouts. Argentina has 60% inflation. We stayed standing.

India is the only country in human history to add a trillion dollars of GDP every 18 months. We added our first trillion in 2007. Our second in 2017. Our third in 2024. Our fourth coming in 2026.

The problems you mentioned exist in every large, low-income, high-density country on earth.

Mexico City’s pollution is worse than Delhi’s.
Manila’s traffic is worse than Mumbai’s.
Lagos has worse road quality than Delhi.
Jakarta has worse air than Delhi.
Cairo has worse adulteration.
Karachi has more corruption.
Hanoi has higher pollution.

None of these countries are run by Modi. They’re all dealing with the same impossible math.

Industrialising a country of 145 crore people during a global energy transition, with limited natural resources, while keeping democracy intact, is the single hardest governance challenge in human history.

> South Korea did it with a population one-tenth our size.
> Japan did it with no major religious or linguistic diversity.
> Singapore did it with 50 lakh people total.

Nobody has done it at India’s scale, with our diversity, in democratic conditions.

So when someone asks “why hasn’t Modi built one city like Norway,” the answer is because building one Norway requires not having 144.5 crore other Indians to look after.

The amount of hateful replies my last viral post received highlights a few critical points 🇺🇸🇮🇳:

> Many Americans have completely checked out after stereotyping India as a 'shithole' country. They’ve gotten lazy about educating themselves. Even if they don’t want to learn about India, a little research on American cities and some basic honesty could have prevented so many vulgar comments.

> Funny how people think Indians brought 'scamming' to the US, as if it’s a new concept here. In reality, these scammers have been a plague in India long before they looked abroad. It's a persistent criminal nexus that keeps evolving, despite the Indian government's best efforts to crush it..

> Most Americans think every Indian is in America to stay for good . Not really. There are many reasons for Indian immigrants to move back, one of them is definitely “convenience”. As you age, your mind and body demand it.

> Scapegoating a community will not change the realities. If H-1B is a problem, it is the government’s responsibility to tighten or ban the immigration process, not the responsibility of 1.6% of the population. I literally read a comment that said, “Since the US government no longer works for its citizens, we will do our best to make sure every Indian feels deeply unwelcome in the United States.”🤡

> I also read one bizarre comment: “Indians diaspora didn’t fight our wars in Afghanistan and Syria.” Blatant lie. There are many Indian origin Americans serving in the US Army and many more who pay taxes that go into the military budget.

> Why can’t they make in India? There are many who are already making in India, and there will be many more who will eventually gain experience and make in India. Without knowing India’s history or its trajectory or blatantly denying it, you don’t get a free pass to question.

FYI, India was never allowed to develop its own hardware & products in the IT sector. Instead, it was forced to confine itself to STEM talent & software services outsourcing by the 1997 Agreement between the Bill Clinton Administration & the United Front Government in India. The current Indian government is reversing this nonsensical agreement.

Isn’t the new merit-based system kicking in from the next H-1B lottery season? Why was it not implemented earlier? Maybe, maybe not but It could be due to that 1997 agreement.
You think any immigrant who does everything right, from investing in American universities to clearing multiple interviews to landing a dream job, would ever want to be left at the mercy of a “lottery” system? The process itself is demeaning, specially designed for aliens.👽

Thanks for the oversensitivity on my last post. I only replied to those who commented in good faith. I intentionally left the hate untouched so people could get a reality check, then blocked the accounts running on pure Indian rage-bait. 😵‍💫

Having said all of it, there is no nation on earth that is perfect. Literally none! Try living in a different nation to realize this reality. If you haven’t, refrain from unnecessary comparison.

I'm grateful for a circle of Americans who are well-read and genuinely curious about the world: no ego, just honesty and success. It’s so refreshing to be around people who choose understanding over judgment. 🙏

Elon Musk avait dit un truc qui m'avait marqué sur l'allocation de ressources. En substance : passé un certain niveau de richesse, l'argent n'est plus de la consommation, c'est de l'allocation de capital.

Cette phrase change tout.

L'économie, dans le fond, c'est juste un problème d'allocation. Tu as des ressources finies et des usages infinis. Qui décide où va quoi ?

Imagine une cour de récré. 100 enfants, des paquets de cartes Pokémon distribués au hasard. Tu laisses faire. Très vite, un ordre émerge. Les bons joueurs accumulent les cartes rares, les collectionneurs trient, les négociateurs trouvent des deals. Personne n'a planifié. Et pourtant chaque carte finit dans les mains de celui qui en tire le plus de valeur. Le système maximise le bonheur total de la cour. C'est ça, la main invisible.

Maintenant fais entrer la maîtresse. Elle trouve ça injuste. Léo a 50 cartes, Tom en a 3. Elle confisque, redistribue, impose l'égalité. Trois effets immédiats. Les bons joueurs arrêtent de jouer, à quoi bon. Les mauvais n'ont plus de raison de progresser, ils auront leur part. Les échanges s'effondrent. La cour est égale, et morte. Elle a maximisé l'égalité, elle a détruit le bonheur.

Le problème de la maîtresse, c'est qu'elle ne peut pas avoir l'information que la cour avait collectivement. C'est le problème du calcul économique de Mises, formulé en 1920. L'URSS a essayé de le résoudre pendant 70 ans avec le Gosplan. Résultat : pénuries, queues, effondrement. Pas parce que les Soviétiques étaient bêtes, parce que le problème est mathématiquement insoluble en mode centralisé.

Quand Musk a 200 milliards, il ne les consomme pas, il les alloue. SpaceX, Starlink, Neuralink, xAI. Chaque dollar est un pari sur le futur. Et lui a un track record. PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX. Il a démontré qu'il sait identifier des problèmes immenses et y allouer des ressources avec un rendement spectaculaire.

L'État aussi a un track record. Hôpitaux qui s'effondrent, éducation qui décline, dette qui explose, services publics qui se dégradent malgré des budgets en hausse constante. Le marché identifie les bons allocateurs, la politique identifie les bons communicants.

Le profit n'est pas une finalité, c'est un signal. Il dit : tu as alloué des ressources rares vers un usage que les gens valorisent suffisamment pour payer. Plus le profit est gros, plus la création de valeur est grande. Quand Starlink est rentable, ça veut dire que des millions de gens dans des zones rurales ont enfin internet. Quand un ministère est en déficit, ça veut dire qu'il consomme plus qu'il ne produit. L'un crée, l'autre détruit, et on appelle ça redistribution.

Dans nos sociétés il y a deux catégories d'acteurs. Les entrepreneurs et les bureaucrates. L'entrepreneur prend un risque personnel pour identifier un problème, mobiliser des ressources, créer une solution. S'il se trompe il perd. S'il a raison, ses clients gagnent, ses employés gagnent, ses fournisseurs gagnent, l'État collecte des impôts. Il est la cellule de base du progrès humain.

Le bureaucrate ne prend aucun risque personnel. Son salaire est garanti. Au mieux il maintient une rente existante. Au pire il la détruit par excès de réglementation, mauvaise allocation forcée, incitations perverses qui découragent ceux qui produisent. Mais dans aucun cas il ne crée.

Regarde les 50 dernières années. iPhone, internet civil, SpaceX, Tesla, Google, Amazon, Stripe, mRNA, ChatGPT. Toutes des inventions privées, portées par des entrepreneurs, financées par du capital risque. Pas un seul ministère n'a inventé quoi que ce soit qui ait changé ta vie au quotidien.

La France est devenue le laboratoire mondial de la dérive bureaucratique. 57% du PIB en dépenses publiques, record absolu. Une administration tentaculaire, une fiscalité qui pénalise la création de richesse. Résultat : décrochage face aux États-Unis, à l'Allemagne, à la Suisse. Fuite des cerveaux. Désindustrialisation. Dette qui explose.

Et le pire c'est que la mauvaise allocation s'auto-renforce. Plus l'État prélève, moins les entrepreneurs créent. Moins ils créent, moins il y a de base fiscale. Plus l'État s'endette et taxe. Boucle de rétroaction négative parfaite. La maîtresse pense qu'elle aide, et chaque année la cour produit moins.

Dans nos sociétés, ce sont les entrepreneurs, toujours, qui font avancer la civilisation. Les bureaucrates au mieux maintiennent une rente, au pire la détruisent. Aucune société n'a jamais progressé en taxant ses créateurs pour subventionner ses gestionnaires.

La question n'est jamais qui a combien. C'est qui alloue le mieux la prochaine unité de ressource pour maximiser le futur de l'humanité. La réponse depuis 200 ans n'a jamais changé. Ce ne sont pas les fonctionnaires.
