Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi Targets Opposition During Anti-Paper Leak Bill Debate

During the Rajya Sabha debate on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi launched a sharp attack on the Opposition. He alleged that several paper leaks occurred during the tenure of former Union Education Minister Kapil Sibal, who has now offered legal assistance to NEET protesters. Trivedi also claimed that medical seats were "auctioned" under previous governments, while asserting that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, students from economically weaker backgrounds have secured admissions on merit.

In his speech, Trivedi further criticised remarks made by Opposition leaders on caste and the examination system, questioning the basis for different standards in setting question papers. These remarks were made as part of the broader parliamentary debate on the anti-paper leak legislation and reflect the BJP's political position; the claims themselves remain contested in Parliament.

Jalpaiguri, West Bengal: CM Suvendu Adhikari says, "I appeal to migrant workers to come back. The state is witnessing the emergence of numerous industrial opportunities. There are also several projects being implemented jointly by the state and the central government. Amul will establish an ice cream manufacturing plant on 15 acres of land. Twelve tea gardens are set to reopen within the next two months. No government welfare scheme will be discontinued in a way that causes hardship to the public. Those who are not covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme will receive benefits under the Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme. Distribution of Ayushman Bharat cards will begin from August 16, and all eligible beneficiaries will receive benefits under the Annapurna Yojana by August 30. No ordinary citizen will face any hardship."
