I'm happy everyone is teaching Amanda Gorman's poetry. But it's also another moment where I wonder, "Are we white teachers ready for this moment?" Whether it's Childish Gambino or The 1619 Project, white teachers always seem to have a pretty slides ready the next day. A thread π
This made me chuckle. I dropped in a breakout room last week to find one student playing piano and the other playing ukelele. When I asked what was going on, they said βwe finished our work and now we are having a jam sesh.β My response: Jam on!

We cannot celebrate Thanksgiving without acknowledging how many empty chairs there are at dinner tables this year. Today, we can take time to be thankful for what we have, but we must also consider what we've lost & the work that is still ahead.
