I didn't use CoT/ReAct in kragent. Instead, I provide real-time feedback through dynamically constructed context, offer comprehensive tool selection, and give the LLM maximum freedom to handle complex tasks. This design has been in AIlice since 2023, and practice proves it not only completes complex tasks but is likely more flexible and powerful than CoT/ReAct (see this example ( https://t.co/oXU1dFVCwL ) from spring 2024: using gpt-4o to extract text from Feynman Lectures videos and answer physics questions).
In early AIlice prototypes, I tried ReAct but quickly abandoned it because the open-source models I used (probably llama 2 13B at the time) struggled with strict format requirements. I pivoted to letting LLMs think/react and output more naturally, adding fault tolerance designs. This led to today's IACT architecture. Practice proves this choice was right—like all talented individuals, LLMs naturally prefer freedom. Free topology, free control flow, free output format = a truly powerful system.
