@IsmarWatcher@Messerschmied14 You can call em sabers but that suggests a more European aesthetic, there’s many western and eastern things that have influenced each other but still have their own respective names and words for them in their cultures and languages
@Messerschmied14@IsmarWatcher Even with the popular image of a scimitar, the word exists to suggests that it’s a sword from the eastern world, and If that is what needs to be communicated then Saif can do that much better, if you need to communicate a curved sword then just say shamshir or tulwar or Kilj
@Messerschmied14@IsmarWatcher Its less organic as a catch all term for Arabic adjacent swords then Saif is, and its only organic in the west because of orientalist writers using the word for all swords from the east, including straight ones, and the only reason the image of them is curved is stereotype.
@HVC_Vaymira@DarthK4iser Hahaha, You’re so smart! All those biblical scholars and theologians who agree there’s at least some question to this must be fucking stupid!
@Mentos49079252@DarthK4iser I’m sure there’s a lotta people being stupid but the original story is more complex then that, it’s the culmination of a long standing tradition that underwent a dramatic development with different authors from different phases of the religions development changing the message.
@Suneater_AUrec@ubelfem Im sure, tho I also think this character would look a lot better if the game didnt have the weird uncanny valley realism thing going on
@PixelBibleBytes I don’t think this would work in a game, cant make a player care enough about the civilization and also give a shit that god isn’t evil because that as a twist would feel deflating, a better plot would just be what P Mononoke does where you have to skirt the line the entire game
