PacBio is doing 3kb reads, as per Harold Craighead. Smells like a winner...

@BobMetcalfe What? No thermodynamics? ;) (re: Science Foo Camp)

However, each of their centers is supposed to cost $50-70M, so $14.5M won't deck out even a single center...

[Krassen @Krassen]

Some info emerging on Complete Genomics latest financing. It is a $14.5M convertible debt. Should last them for awhile...

well, at least that's the deal in QLD, you can't dump CBM water back, you have to treat it. I assume that's the case in CO, too.

[Krassen @Krassen]

I think I have an idea. CBM water is very rich in carbonate and needs to be treated anyway. Algae grow like crazy there. Why not harvest it?

Anyway, Solix (unlike GreenFuel) appear honest and upfront. What is the business, though?

[Krassen @Krassen]

Solix is a very interesting company. I, have to confess, am a bit dyslexic and had them confused with Solazyme.

The good news: Krassen Jr. is the Literacy Champ of his class.
The bad news: his Mom got him a videogame as a reward...

[Krassen @Krassen]

Emma and Krassen Jr. got their report cards today. Stright 'A', both of them. One happy dad here...

[Krassen @Krassen]

PacBio is more interesting: true single molecule + $100M raised last year

[Krassen @Krassen]

For the record, I don't think Complete Genomics will make it, either. Their chemistry is better than SOLID and Solexa, but only slightly

[Krassen @Krassen]

M2E Power's website looks funny. Are they shutting down? Seems like another write-down for OVP, this one for the newest fund, OVPVII...

[Krassen @Krassen]

Fred Wilson makes an interesting analogy: http://bit.ly/TFQcN

@RRapier much thanks (belated) for the nice mentions. Cheers!
