Hey everyone! 🖖

Slightly past the end of the month, but we get there eventually, we’ve had a busy month and have a couple of updates!

For Gateway Guardians we last mentioned we made some good progress on our crowds with one of our development branches, while that solution is better it’s still not performing well enough that we’re happy with it. We’ve decided to keep working on that and put some clips together from an earlier build (it still looks great). That way everyone can see how things are looking and we can put some clips up on Steam that we are happy with, while we continue optimising.

Our crowds are a little bit more complicated than a regular army with attack/defence/formation mechanics, these are effectively large crowds of NPCs with personality types, emotional states, and some other elements that bring emergent behaviour into gameplay. It makes things a bit more complicated, but very worth it, as emergent behaviour is a big part of our gameplay experience.

We have someone joining us from today who will be looking after posting and socials at long last, huzzah! We are now switching to multiple posts a week, which I’m sure you’re all pleased to hear 😄

And finally, we are very pleased to announce the launch of our book sales for the tabletop role-playing version of A⁷! 🥳

We are doing this through Kickstarter so we can get exact numbers for book orders and avoid unnecessary print costs, which we think is sensible. You can also get both regular hardcover and luxury hardcover editions, as well as the exclusive custom luxury dice, GM screens and artbooks and prints. As we mentioned before the game itself is free (under a non-commercial license), you can grab the PDFs of the books when they are out!

Our tabletop development is funded separately to the video game development, so we want to be clear we are not using this Kickstarter to raise funds, it is for TTRPG sales for the physical bits. If we do raise extra money from it, it will be used for expanding the tabletop game. Our video game funding is doing well on its own and we are happy with the progress there.
