@Pro1stAmendment @mikeaglover1 Droplet size? Surgeons wear surgical masks on behalf of the patient, not as respiratory protection like a respirator would. Thus it is consistent to say the mask provides protection by impeding 5um+ droplets, not <5um aerosols or the lone viral particles as the photo implies 😉

@tylcole @ISID_org Fair enough. I don't think it's "too late" to keep advocating for and assisting w/ implemention of the engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE that serve to reduce the R0 (what I want) until the non-herd-immmunity solution arrives. That's in my lane. Policy isnt.

@tylcole I did read it and understood. I've long been a member of .@ISID_org and have had my eye on HPAI like H5N1 for 10+ years. My hope is the ref'd cross-immunity will reduce severity. I still don't see my errors, my points are not about policy. Maybe that's where you see me as wrong.

@tylcole @Scarpinato 1) Anecdotal, but I was just in Arrowhead ICU and had many convos with the nurses. Not sure why you say this. 2) Herd immunity via vaccination notwithstanding. I'll bet this will become endemic as with the other CVs. If it doesn't, is it not due to R0<1, by definition?

@tylcole @Scarpinato Too late for what? I am non-partisan. Isn't an R0 below 1 what ALL of us want, BY DEFINITION, until we reach herd immunity? If there is any one thing we can agree on collectively, a low R0 should be it. That said, thank you for your work during the pandemic.

@chavezkenney @VictoryOverall3 @itsajeannie I'm a biologist and have studied pandemics over 10 yrs. Face coverings slow down droplets and aerosols emitted by the wearer - they are NOT PPE in the "personal" sense. The end game is herd immunity, either naturally or via vaccine.
