Today has been unusually quiet. Still, seeing the barely hidden smiles on the children's faces... I imagine they have a bedtime surprise in store for me.
Lyney's hat? A novel idea.
Hmm, the card designs look better than before, and their handwriting has improved as well... Looks like all that practice has paid off.
From that look on your face... I take it there's one from you in this pile as well?
You are not broke.
Kung napupunta yung pera mo sa pambayad ng bills, panggastos ng pamilya, pambayad ng utang, at pambili ng pagkain — ibig sabihin, nakakapag-provide ka. Nakakatayo ka sa sarili mong paa.
You are not broke, you are responsible.
Darating din yung panahon na mas makakaipon tayo. Mas giginhawa ang buhay. Sipagan at galingan lang natin palagi.
Papabor din satin ang panahon.

Today will likely be the last update of Chichi, my pet who I have uploaded on my Instagram as much as I am. On 9th August 2026, 8:47 am, Chichi crossed the rainbow bridge.
It was born into this world on 16th November 2014 and came into my life on 21st March 2015. For about 11 years, it was a sweetheart that was full of charm who loved people so much that it always followed me around even when I was sleeping, eating, going to the bathroom to the point its toe beans become dry.
It was a kind and smart kid who would sit and readily give its paws when I gave treats. It was a gentle Chichi who never had any trouble. Even in unfamiliar places like hospitals, our second Chichi was full of charms and loved wherever we went, it still feels hard to believe that it is no longer by my side. Like a final record, I want to leave a detailed record even if it’s a bit long.
During the long overseas tour from the end of February to July, it had been doing well by my sister’s side, but from the end of June, it began showing poor appetite and weight loss. We immediately went to the hospital for a checkup but everything was initially normal. However, from mid-July, as it has been vomiting frequently and its appetite has decreased a lot, its condition deteriorated rapidly. While doing every possible test and anxiously waiting for the results, Chichi’s condition deteriorated day by day.
On 27th July, unable to wait any longer, we proceeded with an endoscopy and requested a biopsy. As we waited for the results, the results for the blood test, abdominal ultrasound, tests for systemic disease, Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) test that were conducted in mid-July, all of them were low-probability and normal. So it concluded that it was very likely a gastrointestinal problem. We were anxiously waiting only for the biopsy result which would take 7~10 days with a huge possibility of being gastrointestinal lymphoma.
However on 31st July, as the runny nose and excessive salivation worsened, Chichi’s condition deteriorated rapidly. While monitoring its condition in real time every day, we were told that an urgent chest CT scan is needed. However, right as we were about to proceed, even the blood which was all fine, the anemia level had dropped so low to the point that an urgent transfusion was needed so we had to stop the chest CT scan.
On 1st August, we transferred it to a larger hospital. For two days, it couldn’t eat on its own, so the liquid formula was administered through the tube and we could only hope that Chichi’s condition would improve. The x-ray that were taken daily rapidly got messy and blurry. Even though we know there is a clear abnormality in the lung, it was impossible to conduct any examinations due to Chichi’s bad condition.
On 5th August, before the biopsy result came out, in desperation, we administered FIP injection but there has been no major change. Finally, on 7th August, I received the biopsy result confirming 100% ‘small cell lymphoma’ and I had to make a choice.
It was definitely gastrointestinal lymphoma, the doctors shared their opinions that all of Chichi's symptoms are not just because of this tumor, it seems like there is something else. Should we do additional tests to know the lung condition clearly or should we try chemotherapy for the lymphoma… if we try gastrointestinal chemotherapy, Chichi might not have strength left to keep going for chest or other tests. It was the situation if it should undergo diagnosis to clearly confirm whether or not any other other disease is progressing simultaneously or uncertainty whether Chichi could endure the chemo. First things first, I placed my hope in starting the treatment for what was 100% and we started the chemo immediately.
Every time I went to visit in the morning and afternoon on 8th August, I could see how Chichi was getting exhausting in real time. Late that afternoon, along with the concern about whether to continue treatment, I heard the doctor say, “There might be an overnight call so you should be prepared”. After having deep thoughts with my family, we decided to remove the tube, completed all the treatments and brought it home so it can rest comfortably even just for a day. However, the condition of Chichi when it returned home worsened at an unbelievable speed. It seems as though it was leaving, it was trying desperately to leave the place where it was with me, no matter what.
On 9th August, I watched all night how Chichi held on, stopped all the fighting and slowly fell to sleep at the comfortable home. Even during its leaving, as if it was trying not to cause me even a small hardship, just before the funeral hall opened, it held on through the night and crossed the rainbow bridge in the morning.
Was I still a little kid until now.
I don’t think I have ever experienced such heartbreaking sorrow since I was born.
Because I have never felt this sad before, I probably had never fully understood someone’s deep sorrow until now.
Chichi let me know this feeling and left.
The feeling that I have with Chichi, from now on I don’t think there will be anyone who will make me feel like this.
I’m really going to miss it a lot.
Even though this might be the last update about Chichi,
In my memories and recollections, Chichi will be filled with love more than anything else.
I sincerely appreciate everyone who has cherished and cheered on Chichi all this time. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to doctors and nurses at VIP AMC Seongbuk branch, Grace Cat Clinic and SD AMC Seoul branch for doing their best until the end. I sincerely thank 21gram in Namyangju for helping me to spend good time with Chichi until the final moments.
I love you so much, Chichi.
