Utsuro's arc and Silver Soul as a whole is hitting so much harder on rewatch for some reason. I rushed so hard to finish the series that I feel like I didn't fully grasp it like I am now. This arc is beautiful and Utsuro's fear of humanity and Gintoki is so real.

328's way of recontextualizing sworn enemy is great. Utsuro was inevitably going to return but it shows take responsibility for making it happen, but also shows how Shoyo knew that the spirit of Shoka Sonjuku would outlast that of Utsuro himself.

gintoki feeling like he failed to protect Otose just like how he failed to protect shoyo comes back in this moment where he feels like he cant even protect yorozuya. They put him in his place though and gives shinpachi his best moment (besides 360/1). rewatch hitting like crack
