On issue after issue, separatists just wave their magic wand to wish away serious problems with secession.
Myth: “Federal lands and federal building (sic) don’t add up to much”
Fact:
- Wood Buffalo National Park
- Jasper National Park
- Banff National Park
- Waterton National Park
- Elk Island National Park
Together encompass 53,860 sq KM, or 8.2% of Alberta’s land mass
- CFB Cold Lake
- CFB Suffield
- CFB Wainwright
- CFB Edmonton
Together encompass ~12,000 sq KM, or 1.9% of Alberta’s land mass
- 138 Indian Reserves encompassing 6,556 sq KM, or 1% of Alberta’s land mass
- YEG and YYC airport lands, encompassing 49 sq KM
Plus hundreds of other parcels of land, buildings, etc, much of it prime downtown property (eg armouries, RCMP facilities.)
So ~12% of Alberta’s land mass, including some of the most valuable and strategically important in the province. The total value would be in the tens of billions of dollars.
But don’t worry, the separatists say. No biggie. We’ll just keep saying “Canada sucks” and stuff, cause facts are hard.
Albertans aren’t victims and we’re not quitters. Let’s build on the great Alberta we’ve all created by fixing the flaws not tearing down the house. Alberta’s best days are still ahead of us.
Proudly displaying my #forevercanadian🇨🇦 lawn sign and a Canadian Flag. Let’s not take our country or Alberta’s place in it for granted. Talk to your friends; talk to your neighbours; talk to your colleagues! We are better together in this incredible country!#forevercanadian🇨🇦
It is 148 days until October 19, 2026 - referendum day in Alberta.

40 years ago today, Top Gun was released.
There’s something special about this opening theme. Every time I hear it, I get chills and emotional. No matter how many times I listen to it, that feeling never fades.
As last week was Alberta Forest Week, we wanted to celebrate the heart of our forest sector: the people. We sent a small token of appreciation (celebratory cookies 🍪🌲) to forestry workers across the province as a small reminder that their work is valued.👷👷♀️

Today, we wear red as we remember, honour, and mourn the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two‑Spirit People (MMIWG2S+) across Alberta and Canada. We use this symbol to continue raising awareness of the enduring effects of these violent crimes.
The term #RedDressDay was coined by Metis artist Jamie Black as a response to this critical issue. You can read more about her project here: https://t.co/6YrCH7ypBZ

Challenged myself on Sunday for my first ever full marathon! Rookie mistake going out too fast for the first 23 km…after that reality AND the heat set in! Great experience, with incredible scenery to inspire all runners! Well organized and amazing volunteers! #runvan#bmovm
A big thank you to @insideeducation for having AFPA and the Work Wild team out last weekend at the Youth Environmental Leadership Summit, Regenerate!
Students from all across Alberta attend to learn more about topics such as forestry, wildlife, environmental stewardship, and more. 🌱🦌
AFPA’s President, Jason Krips, spoke about sustainable forest management, innovation, and the future of forestry in Alberta in his keynote address.
Students then collaborated to take on Work Wild’s forest planning challenge and learned all about the many diverse jobs in forestry during the career roundtables.
It was great to see so many students ready to become the next generation of leaders in forestry!

Honoured to speak at @COFI_INFO AGM on the importance of “all of the above” of increasing demand of our forestry products by domestic use, diversifying markets and finding trade stability with the US, underpinned by a drive for increased competitiveness on the landbase #COFI2026
Understanding the “why” behind the headlines.
At #COFI2026, Kurt Niquidet joined Hamir Patel, Jason Krips, and Claire Huxtable to break down the forces shaping BC’s forest economy—covering sector outlooks, investment challenges, and the path to long-term resilience.
With ongoing trade pressures and a shifting global order, Canada’s forest sector continues to rely heavily on the U.S. market, particularly for softwood lumber. Exports are down significantly, leaving a meaningful volume of wood searching for new markets.
Diversifying trade will be critical, but it won’t happen overnight. Traditional markets like Japan face demographic pressures, China remains uncertain, and new markets come with structural barriers.
The takeaway: while global forces are complex, the need to strengthen competitiveness at home is clear.
Thank you to our panel sponsor MNP.
