Willy Burgdorfer, Lyme discoverer and NIH tick expert, tried to infect ticks with rabies as part of the US tick weaponization program in 1957. Fortunately, it didn’t work. Willy Burgdorfer was recruited in 1951 as a bioweapons contractor to Ft. Detrick, working out of Rocky Mountain Labs, because of his experience with Q-fever and ticks. He was fluent in German, so he helped extract tips and techniques from the German Paperclip Nazis. The EIS investigators failed to find a root cause of what we called "Lyme disease" for years, so Willy B. was called in. EIS officers included co-discoverers Alan Barbour (72), Allen Steere (73) and Joseph Snydman (73). Another EIS officer involved in the investigation include was Lyle Petersen, CDC Ft Collins. IDSA presidents Stamm and Blaser were also part of the EIS cabal.
