Om du läser rubrikerna just nu låter det som att hela Washington har kollapsat.

Att drabbas av tunga förluster i mellanvalen är regel, inte undantag. Obama tappade 64 säten 2010. Clinton blev av med 54 säten och båda kamrarna 1994. Bush tappade 30 säten och båda kamrarna 2006, och Trump förlorade 42 säten 2018. I Senaten förlorade både Clinton och Obama 9 säten var, och Reagan tappade 8.

Vad betyder det här egentligen? Det ändrar ingenting av det som redan har drivits igenom. Det enda som händer är att det blir svårare att få igenom helt ny lagstiftning framåt. Och glöm inte: allt som Demokraterna vill lägga fram måste ändå signeras av Trump i slutändan. Han har veto-knappen och kan bara säga nej.

Varför låtsas media som att det här är en unik katastrof när historien visar exakt samma sak i 40 år?
