But he can't end our article 5 commitment and membership without a 2/3 vote of the Senate. The only solution is to get the GOP back to Reagan's philosophy.

@jack_relentless @RepDonBacon You are right. But on the flip side, it doesn't really cost the US much to have bases in Europe. We don't "pay NATO"...it doesn't work that way. In fact, the Pentagon loves having bases in Europe, especially since Iran successfully hit 16 of our bases in the Gulf.

@ScarPimpernel33 @RepDonBacon We should have. Russia should have been given 60 days to remove all military forces from Ukraine (post Feb 2022), and if not, coalition aircraft would start taking out any units. It was the same enforcement that President George HW Bush enacted on Iraq (for Kuwait).

@JosIsenberg @RepDonBacon I love the founders, but WW1 and WW2 showed how US isolationism actually costs us way more in the long run. Far cheaper to have some garrison structures, which has been policy since 1945. It's very cost effective compared to war.

@Jetstom16 @RepDonBacon First off, it takes a 2/3 vote of Senate to leave NATO, which ain't gonna happen. Second, we don't contribute to NATO (except for office space in Brussels).
