Road Safety Week 2026: Safer Roads, Safer West Bengal 🚦

Today marks the beginning of "Road Safety Week - 2026" (August 3 – August 9), organized by the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal, in collaboration with the @WBPolice and @KolkataPolice Traffic units.
Our collective pledge for this week and for the future is clear: Safer Roads, Safer West Bengal.
Every single life is precious. Road safety is not merely a legal requirement; it is a shared social responsibility. Whether we are behind the wheel, riding a two-wheeler or walking as pedestrians, our caution and alertness can prevent tragedies and save lives.

Let us all take a solemn pledge today:
✔️ Obey traffic signals and rules at all times
✔️ Say strict no to overspeeding and dangerous overtaking
✔️ Never drink and drive
✔️ Always wear seat belts and standard-quality helmets
✔️ Look out for one another and spread awareness

A small, conscious effort by every responsible Citizen can pave the way for an accident-free and secure future for our families, our children and every citizen of our state.

ড. শ্যামাপ্রসাদ মুখার্জী সর্বদা নির্ভীকভাবে নিজের মতাদর্শ তুলে ধরেছিলেন। অনেকেই তাঁর কণ্ঠস্বর স্তব্ধ করার চেষ্টা করেছিলেন। দীর্ঘ কয়েক দশক ধরে, এমনকি যে বাংলায় তাঁর জন্ম, সেখানেও তাঁকে আড়াল করার প্রয়াস চলেছে। কিন্তু সূর্যকে যেমন কখনও আড়াল করা যায় না, তেমনই ড. শ্যামাপ্রসাদ মুখার্জীর আদর্শকেও চাপা দিয়ে রাখা যায়নি।
