A remarkable evening at United in Song celebrating our nation and recognizing the incredible role Mississippi has played in shaping the American story!
Today and everyday, I’m proud to be an American and I’m proud to be a Mississippian!
Job well done by @firstladyofms, the America250 Mississippi Commission, and all the volunteers who pulled this phenomenal patriotic event together! 🇺🇸

Corderill’s $100 million investment in Mississippi is another massive win for our state.
This project reinforces Mississippi's role in powering the technologies and digital systems that are shaping America’s future.
Mississippi is writing new and impressive chapters for its history books.
We’re charting a more prosperous course for our state that will last for generations.
I'm excited for what the future holds and proudly share my FY2027 Budget Recommendation.

I've signed Executive Order 1589 to reestablish the Presidential Fitness Test for elementary, middle and high school students across Mississippi.
Students across the country are spending far too much time sitting around looking at screens and eating too much highly-processed junk food. We know that obesity, sedentary lifestyles, and poor nutrition lead to more negative health outcomes. If we want more healthy adults in our society, it’s important that we encourage students to be physically active and educate them on healthy eating habits.
Mississippi will do its part to build a healthier America.
We’ve officially launched the Mississippi AI Talent Accelerator Program (MAI-TAP)! It’s a new initiative that fosters the development of AI, machine learning, and related technical capacities across the state’s institutions of higher learning to support the expansion of @awscloud in Mississippi. Additionally, MAI-TAP creates training infrastructure that benefits the broader technology and information infrastructure sectors.
I also announced $9.1 million in grants to institutions of higher learning throughout our state. They’re on the front lines training the next generation of innovators, and the state of Mississippi is proud to partner with them.
This is another bold step forward for Mississippi. We’re not just preparing for the future – we’re building it. This initiative and investment will help to ensure that Mississippians are equipped with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy. And it will help us continue Mississippi’s historic momentum!
It’s another great day for our state! Let’s innovate, Mississippi!
“Mississippi Schools Are Better Than Yours”
How’s that for a morning headline?
And it doesn’t matter what state you live in…
This headline was not simply made up by the Governor of MS. It was coined by the CEO of national education non-profit.
See for yourself:

My promised update on the severe storms, tornadoes and earthquake – based on the most recent information that we have - that impacted Mississippi over the last 24 hours.
First, I signed a State of Emergency tonight that allows us to further mobilize state assets and better support response and recovery efforts in the counties affected by the storms.
Tragically, as of now, 6 deaths have been reported – one in Covington County, two in Jeff Davis County, and three in Walthall County.
Also, as of now, three additional people are currently missing – two from Covington County and one from Walthall County.
Preliminary reports indicate 29 injuries statewide – 15 in Covington County, two in Jeff Davis County, two in Pike County and 10 in Walthall County.
Please pray for those who lost their life, those who are missing and those leading the search efforts, those who are healing, and their families.
Damage assessments are currently underway. Preliminary assessments indicate that 21 counties sustained storm damage. Those counties include: Calhoun, Carroll, Chickasaw, Covington, Grenada, Humphreys, Issaquena, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Lauderdale, Lee, Leflore, Marshall, Monroe, Montgomery, Newton, Pike, Sharkey, Simpson, Smith, and Walthall.
Approximately 16,000 are currently without power. This is down from a peak of about 30,000. Crews are currently working to restore power as quickly as possible.
Thank you to all of our first responders, law enforcement officers, emergency managers, and crews who are working hard to assist our fellow Mississippians. Our entire state is grateful for your efforts and praying for you!
Mississippi just got listed as the 6th best state to retire in America!
No surprise here - because we have low taxes and cost of living, great beaches, amazing food, and fantastic people.
Pray for President Donald Trump!
Pray for the Trump family!
Pray for the attendees at the rally!
And please…Pray for America!
God’s protection and grace, along with the vigilance of patriots, is the only shield against evil.
We’ve made a lot of news lately when it comes to economic development in Mississippi.
What this means is more jobs and higher wages for Mississippians. That’s what it’s all about!
Today I vetoed SB2180, an "act to amend Section 45-1-19 to require the Department (of Public Safety) to enforce any city ordinance" of the city of Jackson, among other things.
The Capitol Police have been a lifeline for law and order in our state's capitol city and I'm grateful for the men and women in blue who have dedicated themselves to that mission. There is a compelling state interest to ensure the citizens of Jackson have a safe living environment and the Capitol Police was created to focus on the enforcement of state criminal laws. Any time or attention - from an already under-resourced police force - on dealing with city ordinances (of which there are hundreds and none of which have been contemplated, much less approved, by the State) and code enforcement is an unnecessary diversion of personnel from their mission of finding and arresting the criminals.
As just two examples of ordinances the Capitol Police might be forced to “enforce” should this bill become law are 86-193 and 86-194. The Department of Justice under then-President Trump believed that Jackson was considered a sanctuary city because these "ordinances” were adopted. Ordinance 86-193 states that "any law enforcement officer shall not exercise differential treatment of an individual in rendering police services based on a person's... immigration status." Ordinance 86-194 states "a police officer shall not solicit information concerning immigration status for the purpose of ascertaining compliance with federal immigration law."
I believe, if this bill were to become law, the Capitol Police could not assist ICE in deporting illegal aliens that live in this community. Given the crisis at our southern border caused by the Biden Administration and the heinous crimes that have been committed in our state (and beyond) by Illegals in recent weeks and months, that is a risk I am not willing to take. Therefore, I vetoed SB 2180.
It is one day less than a month until we are enjoying Pearl Day, and we can't wait! We hope that you'll take part in all of it, from the BBQ cookoff and Gospel music in the park to the inflatables and games to Ashley McBryde and Rhett Akins at Trustmark Park! Get excited with us!
