Ever walk down your street in January only to see old, discarded Christmas trees out on the curb? Well August the fir tree was one such tree. What do you do if your dreams of being a Christmas tree find you out with the trash? Find out with August in THE JANUARY TREE #PBPitch
@markeology That’s super rough and I’m sorry you’re going through that. It’s hard to muster the patience relearning a skill you’ve been doing and approaching a task a different way takes. You strike me as very witty and creative. I have faith in you!
@markeology It has always resonated with me, too. I even find myself saying this to my 4 year old as he fails and then just tries again with more force (which is almost never the reason he failed)
As an artist this quote has pulled me back from the dark abyss many times
@markeology …so that in time, we paint the same apple, only riper. The same field, only richer. The same sky, only deeper. Then one day we may look back with tender regret and say “oh the paintings I might have made” “
About painting but applies to all art forms, including writing.
@markeology This is from the play “Inventing Van Gogh” by Steven Dietz: “we must not lose hope. Those things which cannot be moved by force must be undermined by patience. We paint the Apple. We paint the Apple again. It is not a question of working differently but working constantly… 1/2
@elawreads At a lot of arcades they have a giant, competitive, HHH game. You sit on the hippos and chomp the mouth to collect ball-pit sized balls. Keep it in! Kids know the hippos!
@elawreads Ive definitely been in conflict with folks who simply couldn’t/wouldn’t hear me.I felt like if they would’ve just consider the possibility that what I was saying was valid (not necessarily right/wrong) we could’ve ended the conflict. This song, to me, is the ballad of that feeling
@elawreads I’ve always figured it was a request for balance. He doesn’t say he hasn’t considered the other POV, but I get the impression that the other won’t consider the singers POV. Singer is asking the other to walk a mile in his shoes. Not that he isn’t or hasn’t waked a mile in theirs.

Come on now, I KNOW we must have some #kidlit industry folks browsing #PBpitch day who know and love Jon Daker! Don't think it would make a great PB? Think again!
In 1990 public-access broadcasted a vocal performance by a local choir group.
His name was Jon Daker, and he was one of the performers.
His performance…did NOT go as planned. Years later, that one disastrous performance made Jon a legend.
