SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR FATAL SHOOTING AT MGM NATIONAL HARBOR GARAGE: 36-year-old Tyrell Hairston has been taken in custody after the fatal shooting of a man in a Slingshot in the exit line of the parking garage at the MGM National Harbor late last night.

The victim, identified as 33-year-old Christopher Austin Jr. of Alexandria, Virginia, was found inside his Slingshot autocycle with multiple gunshot wounds at around 11:10 pm near Monument Avenue and MGM National Avenue. Austin was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting began as both men waited in the parking garage exit line. It is reported that the suspect, identified as Hairston, initiated an argument with Austin before getting out of his car, approaching Austin’s Slingshot autocycle and opening fire.

Police say Austin drove away after the shooting but crashed a short distance from the garage exit.

Authorities said Hairston called 911 shortly after the shooting and surrendered to police. He is being held in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

There is no indication the suspect and victim knew each other before the encounter at the garage exit.
