Food for thought shared by @pennykittle: "Getting attention to our strengths from others catalyzes learning, whereas attention to our weaknesses smothers it" from @mwbuckingham and @littleplatoons. How are we recognizing others strengths?

A4:I don't have just one. Here are some of my favorite books: The Poisonwood Bible,The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Aimless Love by Billy Collins, Love by Matt de la Pena, The Astonishing Color of After, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and Turtles All the Way Down.
@Mr_Isbell I agree! There is power in the math teacher joining the school book club and making recommendations. Some kids connect more with their math teacher than their ELA teacher. Students need to see all teachers reading.
A2: #gcisdchats In high school, I began tutoring students who said they did not love reading, and well now here I am teaching students to read. I love to empower kids just as I was empowered by a series of good teachers that I had post "red light" group. :)
A2:I had trouble reading in K-2 &was put in the "red light" group.Kids made fun of me & the other kids in that group.I began to read as an act of revenge because I was told the more reading I did,the more I would improve. I moved to the "green light group" by 4th grade.#gcisdchat
A2: #gcisdchat By the time I was in 4th grade,my parents would refuse to take me to the library if I misbehaved. Grounding from the library was the ultimate punishment. I loved reading and writing because I had teachers/librarians who shared new books w/ me based on my interests.
#gcisdchat A1: I attended bothsessions. I also enjoyed the new title suggestions. It's important to share new literature with our kids and grow their reading lives. We teachers also need to grow as readers. I am challenging myself to read more nonfiction this summer.
Attention parents and teachers looking for book-writing content while teaching at home, I'm writing letters to you people here: https://t.co/qWp7MsHDHs
We are heartened by the ways books are connecting us during this difficult time. To help bring more stories to more readers, Penguin Random House has created a temporary open license for online story time and read-aloud videos and live events. More here https://t.co/qq3UM2gELJ
Thank you to everyone that made tonight special, including our students and parents! We appreciate all you’ve done through our first 5 years and can’t wait for many more! #PhoenixFierce
