@nytimes has fact-checked @RobertKennedyJr's statement that a study showed that DTP-vaccine was associated with increased female mortality.
They conclude that "Mr. Kennedy is correct that one team reported increased mortality after pertussis vaccination in West Africa. But a series of independent panels that was convened to examine the studies unanimously concluded that the team’s data did not support this conclusion. “Indeed, the papers provide substantial evidence against such a conclusion,” the experts wrote."
An inserted reference points to a statement from the WHO's Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety from 2004.
The @nytimes has overlooked that it was later recognized that the 2004 statement was partly built on flawed studies. In 2016, a WHO review was published, concluding that "receipt of DTP may be associated with higher mortality" (Higgins et al, BMJ 2016).
It is detrimental for the trust in fact checking when such errors occur.
