Great to see fare-free ferry travel being brought in for under22s the budget.
Brings equity for young folk in the isles that need to use ferries to get around.
Thanks to @ArianeBurgessHI for all the work to get this in the budget. https://t.co/C6cWn6AKIL
⛴️Ferries are a vital lifeline for islanders.
🟢Greens secured a commitment to extend concessionary ferry travel to under 22s in island communities.
📈But, the SNP are yet to fulfil their promise to young islanders, and now they plan to hike ticket prices by 10%.
The rising cost of living on our islands has seen populations dwindling. Young people are being priced out of their hometowns.
@scottishgreens secured the extension of concessionary ferry travel last year. It was due to begin this year, but the SNP hasn't introduced it. 🧵[1/4]
On Saturday, First Minister @JohnSwinney attended a performance of The Outrun at @ChurchHillThtr.
The play is part of @edintfest youth exchange programme, connecting young people from Edinburgh with peers from other parts of the world to develop their confidence and creativity.

An incredibly exciting time to be in the role, and look forward to working with partners across the political spectrum and sectors in Orkney, and further afield.
Councillor Kristopher Leask has been appointed to the role of Chair of our Development and Infrastructure Committee. His appointment follows a vote between Councillor Leask and incumbent Chair, Councillor David Dawson which Councillor Leask won 12 votes to 8.
Our final day of talks brings our final Key Note speaker, @KristopherLeask from Orkney Islands Council who is reflecting on the implications of decarbonisation on our energy relations, both locally and nationally, and how this transition offers both challenges and opportunities.

The Scottish Government has passed legislation permitting the introduction of rent controls
We often hear that “all economists agree rent controls dont work”. But this is fundamentally flawed 🧵 https://t.co/dl8tTTeKcn
Delighted to host this visit from @GillianMSP last week where @NorthRonTrust, @ShapinsayDTrust + Rousay, Egilsay & Wyre DT spoke about enormous impact community-owned generation has had in their communities⚡️💚
