@Fallenknight162@GTAVI_Countdown We blame the companies for making anti-consumer decisions but we need to also realize that we are also a driving force of these decisions as well. voting with our wallet works both ways and in this case the vote is coming out for the benefit of all digital
@Fallenknight162@GTAVI_Countdown Then clearly if that is the case people would not buy it to show that they prefer physical releases. If people buy into this then all they see is that digital is what people are shifting to. There's always a choice but buying into it is showing them people are ok with the shift.
@Cyrvex_@Pirat_Nation I think that's one of the misconception about ToS. There are parts that do. Especially when it comes to things covering account suspensions and closures. Especially if it's something the user has deliberately done. Which for the most part is majority of what people are hit with.
@PeterMc898@irockithere@Pirat_Nation Not to harp on your list of reasons but there are much better reasons for physical. Like 1. preservation if you are actually into that. 2. Replay/Nostalgic replay. 3. Safeguard against company side lost license agreements. 4. Last beyond platform store closures.
@PeterMc898@irockithere@Pirat_Nation while these are true I don't think they are directly the reason for physical. 1. Generally you'd want to keep not sell. 2. Risk losing it or it gets broken. 3. Easily preventable non issue unless you've no self-control. 4. Not if you are a day one buyer.
@Cyrvex_@Pirat_Nation We are now in the age where people are actually starting to look at ToS. Which is good that people are legit reading them but also it's a bit late to be complaining about the egregious terms we agree to. Should have been doing that during the years people just been skipping them
@SonomSoft@Pirat_Nation They aren't worried because they're goal wasn't to get people to their platform via steam machine but to price it in such way that it pushes alternative be made that are better spec for around the same price or cheaper and bring more people to their ecosystem by way of steam os
@Fallenknight162@GTAVI_Countdown That's the point because whatever data they are going by shows them that digital sales out weighs the physical sales. On top of that we as the consumers are also part of the problem because it's our digital purchase data that is fueling the shift.
@GizmoDK_@IGN@Sony@PlayStation@PlayStation_jp@RockstarGames@insomniacgames People are voting with their wallets but not in the way the protests wants. The consumers are the problem that we don't want to address. Because no one likes to be told how they should spend their money and so stuff like this continue to happen.
@RobbyRwmdries@RinoTheBouncer@IGN Mainly because people like to preorder stuff that they know they will buy and has the money to do so right then. It's the "I'm going to get it anyway why not buy it now since it's available" mentality. People usually tend to prepurchase stuff they want if they are able to do so.
@NinSonyFan@MetroidFREAK21 i also think gta 6 is the testing ground for this as well and depending on how successful that is will be the greenlight to double down. in other words this would be the prime time for people to vote with their wallets or settle with complacency.
@NinSonyFan@MetroidFREAK21 well if its not then that wouldn't make since from a businesses standpoint and their revenue will take a huge hit unless they know that what they make from digital sales makes up for the revenue they get from people who only buy physical.
@NinSonyFan@MetroidFREAK21 That could work if you can also get a good majority of people who buy digital to do the same. Otherwise it's not going to make much of a difference if what they make in digital sales out number what they make in physical which is how we got here in the first place.
@adol1701@eurogamer This is mostly scalpers unless people who only buy digital had a change of heart and trying to buy into physical media that they helped into being phased out. Iv literally said to people when majority of revenue comes from digital sales physical will start getting phased out.
@KosherRedPill@Pirat_Nation consumers are part of the issue. If Sony is going by revenue, and that shows that the majority of profits come from digital sales they are going to follow that trend and begin phasing out physical. People essentially voted with their wallets to phase out physical for convenience.
@jffkey@VGC_News Yes and no. You can trade the physical cd but as soon as someone boots up that copy your digital access to it is removed as the system will see that you no longer owe the license key to the game that is tied to the cd
@QuantvEnt@Vmaximus009@IGN We can question it but when it comes to stuff that is hard to buy especially when there are brand name loyalist fans they will pay scalper prices just to get their hands on this. This is why scalping is a thing because it's not a question of if, they know people will buy it.
@BurdenWoundsTDM@Genki_JPN I don't think they really care, if what they say is true that the majority of their revenue comes from people who buy digital. That backlash will not make much difference since the digital crowd are the ones pushing physical to be phased out.
@BrilliantChode @JonWadeArt @IGN This also does not make any sense. If this was the case then Sony wouldnt have brought their games to PC when majority of PC gamers are playing on a window OS. Problem here is that the hype and sentiment didn't match the reality. People wanted it but not enough bought into it.
