@PelePerformer @tes STRB also sets out UQT salary. If they are employed on that basis, yes.
I have seen some UQT teachers paid as HLTA however as some HLTAs are paid more than the bottom end of UQT scale. Some have not wanted to move over as a result even though effectively doing a UQT job.
@Strickomaster That's not how we do things here type mindset is all too prevalent in the sector making change a more complex process than it ought to be. We can't continue to complain and recruitment and retention while simultaneously lacking the desire for any type of change.
@MrBoothY6 Best is when they brag about how their dad will 'smash' you in a race.
Every year I prove them and their fathers wrong.
Highlight of my year!
@Strickomaster The philosophy of do more with less has completely broken down.
I am all for efficiency however, we have moved well beyond the realm of efficiency savings.
Was great to welcome the Mayor of the West Midlands today to look at how we have moved our school to a truly Outstanding learning environment @BlackMenTch@MenTeachPrimary

I do think school leaders should undertake training in business/HR. Currently a good teacher gets promoted to senior position and we expect them to just know how to manage. When they don't, they revert back to, "this is how it's always been done" and so the cycle continues.

I switched from private sector to teaching... I was shocked!
Then we wonder why we can't compete with the private sector (I came from business management in the private sector).
When we ask about it, the response tends to be "this is how we've always done it"
@simonrenshaw@MrTeece_@bestpracticenet Realistically, I think we will need to have an undergraduate option as well.
The current offering is postgraduate apprenticeship, the graduate market is where schools are struggling to compete.
The private sector wants more grads and is willing to pay and offer better flex
@50shedsandtrays @Headteacherchat 80% in the guidance is concern territory. I would say is staffing is over 80% that leave very little room in the budget and any substantive capital expenditures (planned or unplanned) would potentially move you close to returning a deficit budget
@davidmetcalf30 @Headteacherchat Certainly individual circumstances will apply. The % figures comes from DfE workforce guidance for schools. While non statutory, I would certainly recommend using this as a framework especially if needing to engage in discussions with unions later on
@Strickomaster Even in schools with good well-being practices a teacher may still need to work during some of their holidays.
Teachers have same statutory holiday rights as other employees, around 5 weeks a year this would mean working some half terms.
