@conway_greg The female was very insistent though and ‘finished the job’ so to speak and kept returning to the carcass for hours - I eventually had to dispose of poor thing as she wouldn’t stop attacking it! I was making preparations to bring in the injured one before it happened so quick!
Well…my #BigGardenBirdwatch was interesting…😳 I have seen blackbirds be territorial before…but not to the extent of killing and eating another! I am horrified! I’m so sorry for the content, it’s quite brutal, but just documenting the unusual behaviour..
@conway_greg Indeed! I noticed the already injured female with the perpetrator close by, then she hopped closer to the back door to seek safety in foliage. Then, the resident female coordinated an attack with her mate, who swooped in from nowhere like a ninja and they both killed her 😢
@Standing_Badger It’s fascinating and horrifying in equal measure, for sure! Especially odd given the time of year I thought, well in advance of typical breeding season!
@timeislife100 🤣 precisely that, on both accounts! I was so naive to think at first, she was ‘shepherding’ the injured one and watching over her whilst she healed 🫣😳
🚨SHOCKING STATE OF THE RIVER CHERWELL, OXFORD UK
This is an environmental catastrophe
Our rivers are the lifeblood of our country's wildlife and environment
HOW HAS THIS BEEN ALLOWED TO HAPPEN?
The UK is literally becoming the 3rd world
@spacewxwatch I literally woke up with a panic attack for no reason at dead on 3am, exactly when the biggest spike was when I checked the next morning 🥴
I know it's not for everyone - there are no nightclubs or theatres or fancy restaurants, the mobile phone reception falls over when it rains and the public transport is practically non-existent - but I feel so incredibly lucky to live in a place where I can stand and just listen to absolute, complete, utter silence. On the early morning lanes, if I really, really strain my ears I can pick out the sound of a few sheep in the distance and maybe the odd blackbird in the trees, but that's it. The more time I spend out there, the more I shrink into here. I may never come out. #peakdistrict
🛸Captured a possible UAP yesterday at Brampton Valley - a really bright ball going super fast! I saw it for about 5 seconds previous to quickly getting my phone out to capture it. Checked flightrader and there was nothing documented in the area at the time. @Caspersight
