Fun fact: A child that walks to school for 10 minutes daily will spend over 32 hours getting to know their neighbourhood over the course of a school year.
Why does that matter? 🧵

Labour Day for me is giving my time at the Stoney Creek Legion, volunteering with amazing people. BBQ, live music & the @Ticats. The Legion is such a great space in the core of Stoney Creek. You may be surprised at how much goes on there!
@StewKlazinga @MLHPigott @HungryHamOnt @SJ_Hurley @brianlewis3282 To understand this you need to know a bit more background. When I spoke with him he spoke he commented on the requests he was hearing in his Ward for increased police presence. He was speaking to that in his message.
@IAKFpresident @StewKlazinga @MLHPigott @HungryHamOnt @SJ_Hurley @brianlewis3282 You're right on the latter, but I do believe and know good officers who feel as those their voices are muffled. Officers who can make the internal change we can not. Officers who want these incidences to stop as well.
@HungryHamOnt @MLHPigott @SJ_Hurley @StewKlazinga @brianlewis3282 I agree. The voices of others are what need to be heard, with real listening taking place and the appropriate action taken by those with the ability to create change.
@StewKlazinga @MLHPigott @HungryHamOnt @SJ_Hurley @brianlewis3282 I never said that. What I referred to was his position on the need for policing. Good policing. Again, there are good officers. Ones who need our support to potentially change the culture. And yes racism, misogyny, any form of discrimination needs to be called out & addressed.
This is such a great visual to help think about transit. Are you tired of traffic yet? Less cars = less traffic. We need reliable services & alternative transit options to get there.
120 people travelling individually in 120 cars could instead ride in 1 #Vancouver articulated bus. When they do, it helps EVERYONE move easier. The math of urban mobility, explained to Vancouverites by @scienceworldca.
Better mobility in cities is about space. #CityMakingMath
@SJ_Hurley @StewKlazinga @brianlewis3282@HamiltonPolice I have seen far too often police officers getting away with horrendous acts. I've also met and worked with amazing police officers who should be emboldened & supported in order to be the change we need in the police force.
@SJ_Hurley @StewKlazinga @brianlewis3282@HamiltonPolice How do we stop this together. How do we support good officers through recruitment & training & how do we change the culture so that these incidences don't happen. And should they happen, how do we hold those accountable. There are calls we need police for & calls we do not.
