His name is Jack.
His story feels painfully similar to Punch.
Jack is an orphaned baby orangutan. He lost his mother and in the wild, a baby orangutan never lets go of their mom. They cling to her every single day for years. She is their world, their safety, their comfort.
But Jack lost that.
Now, because he is sick, he has to be separated from the other babies. He cannot play with them yet. He is still in quarantine. And when an orphaned primate loses their mother, they hold on to anything that feels like one.
That’s why Jack clings to a plush toy.
He is not holding a toy.
He is holding the closest thing he has to a mother.
This story is just as heartbreaking as Punch’s.
No baby should have to grow up without their mother.
No baby should have to find comfort in a stuffed toy instead of a heartbeat.
I am currently trying to contact their account because I want to give 100% of the fees to them to support Jack’s recovery and help with his care.

The internet cried for Punch.
Meet Jack.
Attachment is not weakness.
It’s survival.
Every orphaned primate carries an invisible absence.
Sometimes, it looks like a plush toy.
