So after 7 rounds of interviews at Apple, I got rejected. Not sad at all, as I was just trying out my luck.
Now it’s confirmed, I’ll be joining Amazon ( aws ) as a cloud engineer.
Will be joining in 10 days..!
@kapilgorve Yupp…so being the SRE I would prefer to work on team that handles Google scale traffic in Production or something similar ! It’s just a wish…maybe soon !
So, I messed up a senior SRE interview with Microsoft last week!
Two out of the 3 loop interviews gave me no hire, one gave me a strong hire!
Overall: No hire!
Tough luck! I'll try again some other time!
It wasn't about big tech companies per say...I was focussed on team where I get to work on tech I like the most ! Mostly as SRE, microsoft and google have the best of the SRE teams out there ! These teams suited me the best as per the discussions with multiple SREs from these orgs...!
If I get a chance to work for orgs where i feel that this is the role for me !
Before Amazon, i worked for startup for about 3 years as Senior SRE, I liked that team ! If something like that comes up in future, I would love to go for it !
@kapilgorve I was actually looking out for the opportunities. Originally I thought I would try a few interviews then go for big techs !! To my surprise, the first interviews I got scheduled were from Microsoft !!!
Every time I tell myself, “This should only take 20 minutes,” I already know I’m going to lose the rest of the evening.
- from my own recent experience completing a blue green deployment plan!
Spent way more time than I’d like to admit getting a tiny servo motor to behave properly. ( messed up those tiny wires )
Started as a quick experiment.
A few hours later I had a radar scanning setup with an ultrasonic sensor, an OLED display, and a Python visualization running on my laptop.
No regrets. Probably my favorite weekend project so far.
Ugh! Me miss Windows! Gaming on Windows make big hunt fun boom boom!
Work cave force me smash PS5 only tiny times.
Me build mighty Windows rock box or grab new Xbox when fire makers launch it!!!
@Th3RealSocrates Same isssue ! I’m using my laptop permanently plugged in!!
Also seems like using hdd with a caddy isn’t as reliable as I thought it’d be !!
I thought of refurbishing my old laptop…making it and my Mac mini a Kubernetes cluster with some sort of homelab setup ( more like a quick and simple storage server.)
Thought of switching the HDD with the SATA SSD, but this is costing me 2x the m.2 ssd I have lying around!
I wanted to join the @arpit_bhayani ‘s system design cohort, but I think it’s already begun for June..!
Anyone knows about the next cohort? I’d love to register in advance !
@mholt6 I’ve been tryin to buy a few for my local backups ! But it’s 2x! I mean last year I bought SSDs worth the same price !!! I’m still waiting for them to come down !
@signulll I had the same question ! But I was too afraid to ask! I mean I don’t see any new features! What’s the max they can develop in a ride booking app !!
