Daniel Craig said the reason James Bond movies got serious and dark was because of Austin Powers movies
“We had to destroy the myth because Mike Myers f*cked us.”
“I am a huge fan, but he made it impossible to do the gags."
It's tragic that the man most responsible for how gorgeous this movie looks, Douglas Trumbull, didn't get the recognition. The movie won an Oscar but it was given to Kubrick (the only one in his career). Trumbull was nominated three more times but never won a competetive Oscar.
TREMORS (1990) is one of those movies that gets more impressive with every rewatch. The script wastes absolutely nothing, every setup pays off. Thirty-five years later and it still works.
The unaltered 1977 Star Wars returns to the big screen February 19, 2027, for a limited 50th anniversary run.
For a taster, here’s the original 12-minute Battle of Yavin exactly as it played in ’77, for the true Star Wars diehards.
Legendary cinema.

On the set of FULL METAL JACKET with R. Lee Ermey in 1985. Since we shot the film in reverse (Vietnam in ’85 and Boot Camp in ’86), Lee was serving as technical advisor here. Actor Tim Colceri was originally cast to play Gunnery Sgt. Hartman. Fortunately for audiences (and unfortunately for Tim), Lee convinced Stanley that he was the real deal and replaced Colceri. Thankfully you can still see Tim as the helicopter door gunner in the “Get some” scene.
