@moi_pseudo What bothered me was poor quality ruck ball. We got our way with scrums, kicks and mauls but couldn’t do anything with it. AB’s seemed to target Bok hands and handling. Count at least 4 try scoring opportunities AB’s expertly spoiled. They were ready, we weren’t.
@haribaldijones In sport there are no benefits, only trade offs. Was surprised that AB’s let the Boks kick, scrum and maul. But they refused them clean ruck ball. Attacking the ball, slapping at hands, denying Boks any rhythm with ball in hand. Forced poor handling killed us.
AB’s were prepared. They enforced their will at key areas, especially breakdown. They let the Boks kick, scrum and maul but made sure the ball they got from there was poor. Fighting to keep Bok hands under pressure and ultimately end in an “un”forced error. Well played. #NZLvRSA
The 1st quarter will tell us plenty. If NZ handle the high ball, hold the scrum and Roigard gets quick ball, it’s game on.
But a scrum penalty, a dropped bomb and a Bok maul pen early? Then the AB’s will be in serious trouble. #RSAvNZL
@haribaldijones TMO axed him back with the AB 14 try right after. One look and stated, no evidence to overturn. Could tell the dynamic between them changed a bit. Quite funny really!
One of the absolutely coolest things I’ve ever seen in Rugby! It looked like Ma’a Nonu answered the Ka Mate with his single Kapa o Pango. Absolute chills!! #SHAvNZL
@GeesjeWes@guitar_hodlr@MaxduPreez@AdriaanBasson@PieterDuToit Ah, convenient. People who verify news with the media you trust are “seeking the truth”; everyone else apparently “cares less about truth”. It’s an efficient argument though: first define your preferred media as the truth-checker, then declare everyone outside its audience biased
@GeesjeWes@guitar_hodlr@MaxduPreez@AdriaanBasson@PieterDuToit So News24 is the “most trusted media house in South Africa” provided we first remove all South Africans who don’t trust or use News24 from the definition of “South Africa”? Wow! Starting to look less like a national trust survey and more like a customer satisfaction questionnaire
Eers is dit “the most trusted media house in SA”. Nou is dit “people who pay for mainstream media”. Reuters sê self die steekproef verteenwoordig “younger English-speakers, not the national population.” Dit was juis my punt.
On the game, overall Arg had nothing to loose and everything to gain. They risked it and played the Boks extremely well. The Boks, couldn’t build on phases, couldn’t adjust to the wind and ultimately powered to a win through force of will. Average but important win. #ARGvRSA
@haribaldijones The physical size of Springbok players in the 20th century established the myth. That perception remains and seems to have been replaced by a physical presence that skews the way the AB’s “see” the Springboks. Past trauma informs the present as they say.
@moi_pseudo It’s a free kick as per law 26. This is similar to the Italy, offside at kickoff play where it appears SA are testing certain laws to see how refs handle them. With Italy we never got the penalty from scrum we wanted and with this one we got the try.
@haribaldijones@moi_pseudo@WibbleRugby My 1st reaction was that SA got lucky there. I saw Steenekamp go down and thought that’s the culprit. But then again, I’ve never been brave/stupid enough to stick my head in a human crushing machine. Kudos to AR on that one, very technical call! And thanks for enlightening!
@AnalystGus Agree with the statement, could you clarify aligned and settles though. My feeling is that with the injuries plaguing the squad they are very likey not fully aligned nor settled. But the performance is still poor, even under the above conditions.
@Oom_Rugby Absolutely, professional teams have analysts by the dozen that pick apart every small detail of a team’s structure. Bok IP is based on the systems they have in place as well as the culture they have developed. These things can’t be copied.
@Oom_Rugby Hulle neuse vir hom opgetrek toe hy beskikbaar was en nou dat hul sien wat hy met top klas span kan doen wil hul hom desperaat hê. Spreek baie oor TB en NZ se karakter. Sal nie verbaas wees as hul Jamie Joseph as nuwe hoofafrigter aankondig nie.
