The most profitable farmers think in cycles

Here is what a properly planned 1 hectare looks like across 12 months:

CYCLE 1 Tomatoes
(August–November)
Variety: Tengeru 97 (Open Pollinated)
Seed: 1 500
Yield: 30–50 tonnes
Net profit: 6 000–16 000
Dry season prices hold at 0.40/kg.

CYCLE 2 — Onions (February–June)
Variety: Dina F1 hybrid (Starke Ayres)
Seed: 1 700
Yield: 20–40 tonnes
Store until July–August when prices peak
Net profit: 3 000–11 000

CYCLE 3 — Butternut (June–September)
Variety: Butter Bush OP
Seed: 900
Yield: 15–25 tonnes
Shelf life 3–6 months — sell when prices recover
Net profit: 1 800–6 500

Same 1 hectare. Three cycles. Three income streams.

Combined annual net from 1 hectare: 10 800–33 500

That is 900–2 791 every single month from one hectare of properly cycled crops.

Just woke up from a bad dream where I met my late brother who died in 2014 from a road accident (hit by a car ) whilst he was 21 . I was 18 then , spent our young age competing for unnecessary things, who had a better fon inopinda music yakawanda nekuita whatsapp , who had ma earphones anorira , usabate chi Mp3 player changu , wapfekerei bhutsu dzangu , siya ma CD angu , usasunge tie yangu kuchurch vanhu havazozive kuti ndeyani 😭💔, and I meant it ndanga ndisingatode but did it matter honestly ? Never really got time to love and appreciate each other , I was too busy and excited that I was going to Uni , never thought death would intercept our young lively lives at that stage . We barely talked in that dream , I was just crying, regretting how I couldn’t express my love for him when he was still alive . Ndanga ndichingoti ndikada kutaura about any event which happened after 2014 ndotanga kuzhamba . Nature did not allow or gave me time to fix my errors and shortcomings . Those typa dreams you wake up with real tears on your cheeks because you’re really hurting . I miss him every day but pretend to have moved on . Probably died thinking zimfana harindide iri💔😭. Im all grown now , I understand life better, would have shown you this side of me which doesn’t let a brother lack in anything, sadly that side you never knew existed in me . My beliefs surrounding death also mean its useless writing all this . If the Christian teachings are true , or if there’s one which I uphold it involves ressurection . May we meet our loved ones again one more time . Love your family whilst you still have them because you never know and you’re never prepared. Continue to Rest in Peace , Jonso 😭💔.
