I’m deeply appalled and outraged by the viral video circulating on social media showing the brutal and inhumane assault of a blogger in Mombasa County. This despicable act of violence, allegedly carried out as punishment for exposing corruption, is not only a gross violation of human rights but also an attack on the fundamental principles of free speech and press freedom.

No one should ever be subjected to such cruel, degrading treatment for exercising their right to expose wrongdoing or corruption. Acts of violence, intimidation, and sexual abuse have no place in our society and should be met with swift and unequivocal justice.

@DCI_Kenya investigate this incident thoroughly and hold those responsible accountable for their heinous actions. The government should also reaffirm its commitment to protecting whistleblowers, journalists, and bloggers who play a crucial role in upholding transparency and good governance.

We must, as a society, reject any form of violence used to silence truth-tellers. Together, we must foster an environment where freedom of speech is protected and where the voices of those who speak out against corruption are heard, not brutalized.

Justice must prevail.
